apparently the freespace 2 engine is now open source so they jumped on it and have been developing it since 2005. i have been watching it for a while but i honestly didnt think it would make it this far as its a hell of a lot of work. My hat is of and respects are sent to them :)

Roll your eyes elsewhere ffs, normally these kind of games are stopped as soon as screens released as theyre done with no license. Its unusual to say the least for a company owning an ip to give the go ahead for people to make their own game.

screens have been out for over a year. the game was voted the number 1 mod of 2007. you dont develope a game for over a year without asking permision from the various copyright owners. not if you have any logic about you. The producers of battlestar have damn near given free reign with regards to the show itself too. they have released a good few hours of footage on the main site for people to download, cut paste and use as they wish.
