This is my first ever build using part mainly purchased from OcUK with some additions from elsewhere when Oc didn't stock the perticular parts i wanted.
I have had this setup running rough for a few month now but i recently took delivery of a few new parts and decided i would redo the whole thing properly :)

Parts:
Scout case
Asus Crosshair III
Phenom II 550
OCZ Reaper 2*2Gb
Be Quiet! 450
XFX 5770
2* WD 160gb HDD
Thermalright TRUE
4* Akasa Apache blacks
Zalaman Fan Controller
LOTS of cable brade! ( not enought as it turned out )

Starting with the case

Abit dusty i no, will get that cleaned out shortly :p. As to the case , i thought it was quite decent, nice black interior with some holes for cable managment. However i wouldn't trust those 'Toolless' brackets on the PCE slots with anything , and as you can see i removed all of them and replaces with the supplied screws :)

Cable Sleeving!

I decided to go with a nice Red/Black weeve which i thought went quite well with the ATI card and mobo color scheme.

Before .................................................................... After

I was using the sunbeam PSU modding kit for the braiding, and dispite many people giving it a bad review i thought it was quite decent. As you can see i got a little carried away and sleeved the mobo speaker :D

I also took the chance to sleeve all the front panel cables to, thought it made the whole thing look a lot neater.

More to come...:)

i can never be bothered with braiding, but it does look good.
I like the scout , looking forward to see how it turns out.

Yea, the end result is allways good. However it is quite frustrating and rather time consuming to braid cables, especially when you hit a connector that just refuses to come out. Luckily i managed to do all mine without breaking one, but i can see it being quite easy to break loads if your quite heavy handed :P

I'm really happy Asus decided to show AMD some love and created this :), great looking mobo with awesome Overclocking capabilities.

Quite a snug fit but went in without any problems. Bought the RAM of OcUK quite a while back for £47 , and im glad i did! 4gig of ram is about twice that price now

Great power supply by Be Quiet! lots of cables at decent lenghts, my only gripe being the colored sockets on the back of the psu ..the cables only fit in the hole they were meant for so in my mind there is no need for the bright colors and how there throwing of my colour scheme! Im pleased to see that they have changed this on there new Dark Power range.
Two WD HDD's i only initially had one to start with and 160gb just wasn't enought so i grabbed another...in hind sight i would have been better of just buying a 500gb Caviar black or a larger F1/F3 Samsung drive.

I'm quite pleased with how things are coming along so far :)

I like the braiding :) Do you take the plugs off and then sleeve and then re crimp or just over the top?

I just use the Sunbeam atx cable extractor to get the cable out of the plugs and the braid just slips over the metal contacts on the end of the cable quite nice. I had one or two issues with the cables not quite locking back into the plugs after i took them out, but luckily none of were that bad they just fell straight back out :)

Nice build, only thing letting it down for me slightly is those HDD's they must be dog slow compaired to new drives even in RAID0.

They are slow...and noisy:eek:..thinking of chucking them into an older pc and getting a larger samsung/WD caviar black. They are the noisiest part of my pc by far...except gfx card when gaming of course :P

Given how the prices of SSD's are starting to drop below 100 pounds for the 40gig intel one (Don't fancy the cheaper patriot version) i might grab one of them as well as a better HDD.

Only thing holding me back is 40 gig is rather low and after OS there wouldn't be much room for anything else, never mind steam and all my games :(

I'm guessing you write down which cable went where in the plug, for example the Mobo power cable.

Some people like to do that, but personally that would confuse the hell out of me. I just take one cable out, put the braid and heat shrink on and plug it back in. Rinse and repeat, might take a bit longer but it prevent me from putting the cables in the wrong sockets and potentially gimping my mobo :)

I have this case. I cant see the wires at the top right of the motherboard. Have you taken everything out and starting from scratch? (including the cables for the front ports etc)?

Also have you taken all the fans out? , if so how are you going to reconnect them all? , are you going to connect them all together then connect it to the motherboard so you can control the speed?

Where did you get the braid from also?

As to the front panal, it took as while as there is quite a few screws that need to be taken out to be able to remove the front panel. When i eventually got it out i got rid of the E-sata( as i don't need it) and sleeved the rest.

Remove all the stock fans except the big 180 fan at the top and replaced them with some apache blacks. All of which are hooked up to a Zalaman fan controller. When i get round to putting the rest of the photos up you shall see.

As to the braid i can't give you a definate answer as there a competitor, but if you put 'Black + Red Cable braid' in google you will find it eventually :D
