Coil Whine?

I've had my new computer over the weekend and noticed at the start there are very slight coil whine but not enough to be annoying really (fans covered it).

Today since I've put the PC on it's been horrible though, when playing WoW for example just looking around adjusts the pitch of the whine

Is there anything I can do about this?

It's a Gigabyte 980Ti G1

I don't really drop below 80fps on WoW so no idea at what fps it begins, soon as I load the login screen I can hear the whine.

Is it easy enough to RMA due to Coil whine? I'd of thought a differing systems would impact the coil whine so it would be hard to prove that it's 'faulty'?

I've enabled vSync but it's made no difference to my coil whine.

When did you buy the card?

Should it be done as an RMA/Fault or Customer Services unsatisfied product?

Would it be worth getting a replacement or do a high number of 980Ti G1's have this issue? Ideally I'd want a replacement as I have no other graphics card in the meantime.

Ask for a refund due to fault. Get refund then buy new card.

Unfortunately you'll be without a card for a few days.

Would it be worth getting another G1?

I could ask for a replacement rather than a refund, but I don't want to get a replacement if the next one is going to have coil whine too

Do you think it would be worth me trying my 650W Corsair PSU to see if it results in the GPU producing coil whine too? (I read that it's typically a PSU/GPU combination that results in coil whine?)

I tested mine with a 1200w Superflower and it was exactly the same. I got a refund and bought a MSI 6G instead... I didn't want to risk another G1 with coil whine. I understand why you'd want to exchange as the G1 is a cracking card if not for the coil whine.

It's your decision at the end of the day. Weigh it up as best you can.

Will try the 650W when I'm home later, it's worth a try if it'll save a few days on an RMA process.

Will 650W be fine with a 5820k and 980Ti?

Currently have a EVGA SuperNova G2 750w

Also, when it's making the whine if I tab out of it it seems fine, but soon as I go back on it it's mad again. When I say tab I mean for example click Chrome in another screen (so WoW is still running on the middle screen).

Also, the fact it's started to spike just today seems a bit odd too doesn't it, there was slight whine before but now it's a lot more obvious just suddenly?

Seems like I can't..

"Hi there

Unfortunately coil whine is not classed as a fault, it doesnt effect the cards performance in any way, shape or form at all.

Sorry about that

Bailey"

If you have had the card for less than 14 days, then you can return as unwanted due to performance not meeting expectations, regardless of whether they consider it faulty or not. Did you buy the card individually, or as part of a system?

My G1 Gaming was RMA'd by OcUK without fault, had a new card within 48 hours.

What PSU do you have?
