I think there were some FB pics of these up in July, but PowerColor have announced that they'll be released as a Limited Edition in September. There's one odd line in the press release though:

"... today reveals the 1st and only dual TAHITI XT GPU solution: the PowerColor Devil 13 HD7990"

Could this mean that only the Devil13 will have Tahiti XT cores, or maybe that it will be the only HD7990? Also, there doesn't appear to be any reference to AMD's Boost tech, which is kind of odd considering it's a major part of the new 7970s and 7950s. What do you reckon?

That is hideous.

It comes with a tool kit? Weird.

THREE 8 pin connectors. :o

Yep, looks like they've chucked a whole lot in almost as if they're worried that without it though couldn't justify the price/Limited Edition label.

And 3 x 8-Pin PCI-E does seem like overkill, even for 2 Tahiti XT's.

Pointless exercise if it doesn't compete with the 690 performance/price point.

W1zzard@tpu has one on it's way for review-lucky dog, but I'd steal his bone in the blink of an eye.:)

Hi there

Had a play with one, mixed thoughts!
Huge power, but also noisy after gaming for a while. :(

Price will be circa £800 Inc. VAT, so no cheaper than a 690 really and the 690 is a much quieter product.

690 draws less power than sli 680s as well so even that will be cheaper to run.

This isn't official which suggests AMD will release a better version. But it'll probably be outdated since it's already halfway to 8970s and possible 8990 already...

Guess AMD will just leave it to third parties to take the ball with this one.

No AMD will not release such a card, they have canned the idea. Dual GPU cards don't sell, better to focus on a faster single GPU product.

So only Powercolor will release, were also toying with getting HIS to build us some exclusively, but again no cheaper and well we believe the demand is not there for such a product.

Have they canned it? Gibbo exclusive that sounds like :D

Yeah I've never understood the appeal of those cards anyway. Would much rather get a single card when they're released and then add another for XF in the future if needed. Better performance and cheaper. Why spend 800 on this card when you can quickly grab 2 7950s and overclock them to match the performance for half the price.

I must admit i was amazed to see thee 8 power pins needed. I expected At least 8+8+6 at the max. Personally, i agree i dont fully see the point of these cards but im thinking of grabbing a 6990, using it as a single card on its own and then crossfire it with my HD6970 for extra power if needed. Just to give more life span to my system, though not anytime soon. £500 for a graphics that i dont need when my HD6970 is pretty much eating up the games i throw at it with no to little problems :) - Good luck to powercolour though.

well considering 7970 is 8+6, and in some ghz edition models 8+8, i thought 8+8+8pin was reasonable

Er no 150w per 8 pin connector plus 75w for the PCIe slot = 525w x 2 if you want quadfire = 1050w. I think anyone who buys one is going to oc it so the above figures are possible. The worst bit is the cooler is dumping all that heat into the case.

I like dual GPU cards and don't mind if their AMD or nvidia but I think this one is best left alone.
