DOOM 3 BFG Edition is the ultimate collection of groundbreaking games that defined the first person shooter. It includes DOOM, DOOM 2, DOOM 3, and DOOM 3: Resurrection of Evil, as well as the 'Lost Mission.' All DOOM 3 content has been re-mastered for PlayStation 3 in stunning 3D for an even more terrifying FPS experience.

Basically just a compilation of the games with some enhancements for ps3 from the looks of it.

That's the console thread, this should be for the PC version :)

Feels like a bit of a cheek to me, re-releasing an 8 year old game with a few enhancements that are probably no better than existing mods. It's the sort of game that I can't really see benefitting massively from it, since it looks OK to start with and is just standard FPS fare that already supports modern systems, widescreen etc etc. Not like say, the Baldur's Gate remakes. 5.1 sound, fair enough, should be a good addition to the atmosphere though.

My guess it is as much a marketing ploy as anything, building up the hype for Doom4, getting it back on the radar as it were. A bit like the HD editions of Serious Sam then then bringing SS3 out not too long after.

Would be nice if they gave say a 50% discount to owners of the original, something like that.

iirc, stock D3 doesn't support widescreen resolutions - you had to modify the config.ini

Just checked my Steam version, no widescreen resolutions in the options.

Yeah but it works fine you just need to change it in the config/console via well documented commands, no big deal. I'm comparing it some older games that don't have that facility.... you can have Doom 3 running on Win7 x64 in 1920x1080 or whatever in next to no time :)

One thing that would interest me is if they could up the timing/ticrate to 120fps instead of 60fps without affecting gameplay, the game was basically locked to 60fps max and there was some workaround but it could cause problems.
