Panting like a fiend
OK, I foolishly installed the new Windows Live essentials package the other night, and I'm hating the way MSN now works.

Is there any way to just get it to send a link when I send someone a link to a picture, rather than having it display the picture in both users msn window?

Also, is there any way to get it to show my nickname rather than full name again?

It seems to have gone from fairly nice, easy to setup and working to bloated, with loads of extra options, but having removed some fairly simple options (unless they are hidden).

Hey wolf,

I also made the mistake of downloading MSN 2011 the other day.

I found no way of being able to change my name from the official one on my account and it also started to slow my PC down at times with the task manager showing it continually eating memory.

In the end i uninstalled the whole of Live Essentials 2011 and used this link

http://wl.dlservice.microsoft.com/d...141-40C4-840F-770F99B67986/en/wlsetup-all.exe

to redownload Windows live 2009 :) Now everything is back to normal!

It's awful, they've done away with Nicknames completely as far as I'm aware and they're heavily integrating it into the webservices, same with Livemail which used to be a nice easy to use mail client and is now a complete mess :(

cant get the old 1 back again.

ok, it looks like i'll have to uninstall, is the old live mail compatible with the files from the new one?

It's a shame, as they've turned it from something that did what wanted, and was easy to use/tidy, but it seems like they've added stuff just because they can:/

I miss the old old MSN, been getting worse with every revision :(

Bring back people using ICQ I say :) (well, the old good versions :p)

I've been using Pidgin for months now because MSN got crap... though I've recently switched to Digsby and apart from all the make us money rubbish it's generally a more refined product.

Think i'm the only person who prefers the new Live Messenger (it's not been called MSN for years people!).

It stupidly takes away stuff thats goings to annoy a LOT of people (nicknames and drawing ability) but it also adds useful and clever stuff, and has a cleaner look.

I'm amazed they got rid of the nicknames though, Messenger is the biggest messaging service that exists, and not having nicknames is "annoying" pretty much everyone i know, to put it lightly.
