Far Cry 2 has been officially announced by UBI...
New forum and teaser sites are now live.
Looks like the rumours of Africa are true, no other details are apparant at this time.

It will be featured in the US (and presumably UK) Oct editions of PCGAMER...

So is it going to a mutants gone wrong storyline again? That for me ruined Far Cry, if it was just a shoot 'em up it would been brilliant but getting the mutants sub-plot in there just ruined it for me.

Good news though about a sequel. I think Far Cry is one of the few games that deserves a sequel. :)

Any ideas on ETA? Surely not before 2009?

Shouldn't they concentrate on getting Crysis finished before thinking about Far Cry 2

Never saw the big deal about the original if I'm honest, sure it looked nice but gameplay weren't up to much IMO.

Its getting made by Ubisoft Montreal not crytek.

An ubisoft press folder was leaked onto the net last year it contained a lot of art work for farcry 2, I think it had jungle as well as desert art work, so i would think this game has been in devlopment for a long time.

afaik they will be using the crytek engine, and they are just squeezing the last few bugs out of crysis.

i really need to buy Farcry as i havent played it.

Yeah I remember that. Wasn't there some videos as well that showed guns degrading over time, so if you picked up a pistol it would only last a certain amount of time before you needed to pick up a new weapon?

The mutants might have made the game less fun for me, but you really should buy it. I've found it online for £10 which is a bit more than I was expecting tbh but its still such a good game.

I have Far Cry sitting here ona disk that i got free with a gfx card only one problem, ave lost the cd key :(

You dont need the CD Key for single player...

Just to be clear, this has nothing to do with Crysis or Crytek.
Ubi bought the remaining intelectual property rights to FC and the use of the CE1 in the franchise at GDC in 2006.

Its being developed by UBI Montreal, currently ONLY for PC, but even my friends on the Dev team wont give me anymore details than are available in the press release, nor will they confirm what engine they are using...

Some sites are speculating that it is going to be released in Spring 2008 but Ive seen nothing official to that effect.

@Mav: ffs...:rolleyes: .
"\" backslash man, backslash!!!;)

The thought of Ubisoft not porting this to consoles is a bit far fetched though. I hope they dont slaughter the memory of far cry with this though, i hate it when publishers continue a license without the original developers.

Can't say I really care about this. Crysis is the real successor to FarCry. I always thought that Far Cry didn't need an actual sequel.

Generally I agree. I see it a lot with console games especially (Goldeneye Rogue Agent anyone??).

But I like some of UbiSoft's stuff. If it's a pc game first and a console game later, I'll keep an eye on it.
