[email protected] with a 8800 card?

Why stupid? Fast CPU with an awesome card, should run a treat. Dual core CPUs don't bring a lot extra gaming performance, and you've got a decent single core CPU.

I have a x1900xt atm, overclocked to the xt-x.. But seriously would I notice much of a inprovement going from that to a 8800 if I kept my good old fx55?

I was going to upgrade my cpu in the summer, but I guess I could buy a top of the range card before I upgrade the cpu,, You never know i might get a huge performance boost, and might be able to keep my fx55 passed next year,, or is that wishful thinking?

You'll see a massive difference at that res. Thats from experience. One of the best upgrades I've ever done.

Should be fine, cpu makes little or no difference tbh, specially at high ress.
Good example below :)

So my fx55 should handle a 8800 card ok?

My 4800X2 loves it! And your CPU is clocked higher than mine. Don't listen to any rubbish about not needing one for that resolution or CPU. It works very well on those specs.

This thread was ment to be a joke,, I wouldn't of thought a 8800 card would work with my fx55 without big bottlenecking. yeah, I will prob get a new 24inch ws lcd soon aswel

Anyone noticed he is using a 19" monitor?! So high res isn't going to help.
It'll be strictly 1280x1024. Therefore no realy need to upgrade..?

Honestly, you'd see a massive difference at that res!!! I just swapped a 1900XT for an 8800GTX yesterday. I play mostly at 1280, and the difference is staggering!!
