Both value ocuk gtx 295 and the value ocuk gtx 285 are both pre-order...

Do you know what dates these two GPU cards are due in ??

Sub £300 not £500, silly billy.

DOH!

However.

In a number of benchmarks the 5870 has been shown to beat the 295, the 5870 is also a single card.

So can, legitimately, be called the fastest card for uner £300? or one of the two fastest?

well this just makes a 5870 pointless now. haha im glad i didnt buy a new grfx card xD

uhhh, not really, the 5870 is as fast and in some cases faster and is a single card so does not need to worry about SLI/Xfire shenanigans.

Personaly I see no reason anyone would buy this over the 5870, purely for the fact I don't see why anyone would, out of choice, take a dual card set up over a single card.

really??? my m8 told me the 295 is 10% faster on average and ive yet myself to see a benchmark where the 5870 beats the 295? i was about to buy a 5870. but then i see this price drop of a faster(?) card i dont want to buy a 5870 now. not that i will buy a 295 either O.o

Looking at a wattage eating monster, and old tech with marginal performance over a 5870 in some games " a lot less when SLI does not scale well in a game "....mmm....choices..;)

Literaly only a few, I won't deny the 295 is the faster card but only by a small margin, also remember the 5870 is using new drivers, the 295 by comparison has driver development spanning back...what nearly a year?

I think it's just my general bias against dual cards being put against single cards, in my opinion a 5-10% drop in performance for a single card over a dual card set up is preferably enough for me to go with the single card.
