Sorry for it being a Daily Fail link, but it's a real story.

How many people think their dog would really have a go like this, especially being only 8 months old?

I'm not sure if our springer (about a year and a half) would really go for it, or approach wagging his tail to an intruder while barking. My father-in-law's dog would go mentally aggressive, but if you ask me that dog is abused.
 
Just as well the dog never bit the burglar, they'd probably be geting sued because of it.

Id say my dog would have a go as well, very alert and territorial.

Don't forget the dog would also get put down.

But in all seriousness. Very brave dog. Love Labs. I wonder if the dog can feel pride?
 
Labs are great dogs very well natured around families but also very cleaver as we see here. Now if the intruder had gravy bones or a Pedigree bone chew. He would have probably got in, labs are mad about food.

Labour are in power -- anything is possible. But I doubt it.

This post shows us all exactly how 1) dogs rock and 2) dogs > cats, 3) labs are awesome.
 
My black Lab wouldn't even wake up unless the burglar opened the fridge or made a noise like a crisp packet opening :D

That's why Dog's are superior to cats. I miss my old dog, he'd have definitely taken a burglar to town. Was always wary of strangers in the house until he got to know them or it was a girl...then they got a whole different sort of attention. Horny little git!
 
I knew a lad who had a big dopy black labrador. He would let anyone into the house and just slobber you or sit and watch you. If you tried to leave and his owner wasnt there however.... well he would have you up against the wall by the throat!

Apparently one time he had the gas man round to do somehting to the meter, he told the gas man if he wanted to leave the house to goto his van or whatever to call him from upstairs otherwise the dog might go for him. Of course the gas man knew better, my mate came down stairs to find the gas man up against the wall with the dog pinning him with both front paws and staring him in the face. The man had been too frightened to shout for help :p

The gas man didnt take it further as he had been warned and admitted that he the dog hadnt actually bitten him or anything, just pinned him and stared :p
 
I think dogs are very good at reading human body language, so to all those saying their dog is a big softie i'd be very surprised if the dog actually acted in this way towards an intruder. Humans adopt a very obvious skulking position when trying to sneak and dogs recognise this behaviour immediately, instinctively knowing how they should react in the situation.

Awesome dog though, makes me miss having mine around.
 
My dog insurance pays a reward if my dog stops an intruder. I think my german shepherd would attack anyone coming into the house.

Why do people have to start the old "Cats vs Dogs" argument, I don't see what it has to do with anything?

Both are great in my eyes, but that is REALLY besides the point here.
 
both my dogs are very loud with the older one sounding very aggressive, so much so it scares of carol singers and trick or treaters :)

However, once in the house it'd be a different story as it would be the younger one that would attack. If we are arguing he gets very defensive and if you are play fighting he will grab hold of your fist in his mouth. This dog has a habit of pulling tin cans off the side and chewing them, his teeth are very hard and they hurt like hell when he is just playing. I really wouldn't want to be on the receiving end!
