lately all of a sudden my computer just restarts without warning, then when windows loads it says that there was was explorer error. it says its down to the psu, cpu, motherboard or ram.

i ran memtest on all four memory sticks, ran prime95 for hours without any fails i certainly dont have heat issuses. i removed all the neon lights and extras.

im using a hiper 520w psu and think its the prob, i have scanned for viruses and spyware and all is clean, can anyone confirm if its my psu or tell me a way of definatelt telling???

Could also be ram, motherboard or HDD. Don't just focus on the PSU, although that is a good place to start.

Also may be windows itself? I had this sort of problem with my old pc and i found it was my gfx card drivers

Hiper psu's have been known to cause this sort of problem before.
Run a game or prime95 or 3dmark on it to load it up and watch the voltage rails, see if they go down compared to when the pc is idle.

My hiper 520 blew up last night, it has been playing up for a while and i think the heat finally killed it. TBH i've had problems for ages and i wasnt sure whether it was that or the mobo, either way good riddance i wont be buying hiper again that's for sure. Am just hoping nothing else got fried when it went, quite impressive burning smell and bang. it did what u described a couple of times (random restarts) before finally going, do u small any burning smells? Apparently mine smelt last week but cos i'm always around it (and have cold) i didnt smell it.

good luck anyway

please don't say that about hiper I just bought one  , anyhoo check to see if your system isn't overheating my last system did this and I ended up putting a desk fan by the case, although it could be the psu, you'll know when you smell burning and the loud zzzZZZZ noise ;)

I hate to say it, but hiper psu's usually take out the system when they go.

If you've just bought one, i would try and send it back if i were you.

 i'll have to be careful then, can't really send it back now scratched the cheapish paint on it and I don't know where the toolbox case wen't :p

i posted at the start that i have ran memtest and prime95, i dont have cpu heat issues its very well cooled only getting 26idle and 36 load. got a lend of a q(BOOM)tec psu just too see if this works for a day before exploading

It does not have to be the cpu temps it could be northbridge or some other part which is getting too warm such as the power module.
I had this problem for some time and had replaced a large amount of my system, the only time it has crashed in the last few months is when I was gaming and forgot to turn the fans up.

well i found the solution (strange but true one), after installing the qtec it ran for about 8 hours then restarted. so that ruled out my psu. the next thing i noticed that i couldnt connect to the internet because my network port wouldnt function properly. i disabled my onboard lan, installed a new network card and.......... perfection no restarts... splendid!

thanks for all the help guys...appreceiated
