Yes as the title says, my Hiper 580W Modular PSU has finally decided to give up on me :(

Been having poblems the last week or so with random crashes and shutdowns and when trying to reboot the system would fire up for a split second then shut off again, usually took about 5-6 tries to actually get it started again.

Anyway I initially thought it may have been a RAM problem, due to the reboots and games that would crash for no apparent reason, but have tested the RAM today and it passes with flying colours. So I dug out an old 600W Magna PSU that I had lying round(cost £20 when I bought it) and rewired the PC into that and lo and behold everything is back to normal and running happily, even managed to put my overclock back on - Opty146 now running at 2.5Ghz again :)

As you can gather this is not the rig in my sig, but my old system which I still use from time to time, depending on how my mood takes me, besides the good rig is in the bedroom and the other half wont let me use it when she is in bed :p

R.I.P. Hiper 580W PSU - Another one to add to the ever growing list.

Main question here is do you think its worth RMA'ing it or would I be best just chucking it in the bin and consigning it to the history books?

And now the 7th thread regarding Hiper since mine went busto 2 weeks ago.

It really is incredible, I will never buy this brand again.

it seems to be the 580W Modular ones that fail a lot, mine was one of them!

Yes, that should be noted 580 type R modular. The other Hipers seem to be absolutely fine, now surely there must be some kind of recall for these?

As said it only seems to be the Modular Type-R 580W that are giving out on people, so surely there has to be some kind of generic fault in the manufacture of these PSU's?

Maybe it is the connections for the modular wires, who knows? It would be nice to eventually find out and as you said mattpj, maybe it is time for a recall.
