looks like another blown Hiper R580...

Looks like I managed to break my r580 PSU. I'd installed a Xfire 2496 sound card and then this computer just would'nt start. I've taken the panel to have a look and the green led on the mobo is still on, as is the light on the power switch on the back of the PSU. However, when I recycle the power and attempt to restart the computer, the PSU and CPU fans turn for about half a second and then stop. Nothing else happens at this point.

I'm pretty sure the PSU is blown, but I just thought I'd check here, as I can't understand why the lights on the board and the power switch are still on...

Sounds like a short to me. If the psu was dead I doubt any power would get to the mobo.

I've recently had a problem with a Hiper PSU, it would work then it wouldn't, maybe there is dodgy batch out ther.
Mine is going back for a swap out I think.

I had a Hiper a while back a 470w unit it crapped out after a week 2nd unit died in less then half a year have been using zalman and tagan from then on
