Why not ask her what she wants? When did it become the norm that every present we buy has to be a surprise? Surprise=disappointment most of the time, why bother?
im no help but my other half has kept everything a surprise for me. i've been hinting at a ring i like, its not expensive, £25 but i like it and would be happy with it.
have you thought about maybe asking her. you can always get her something they want AND a surprise, thats what ive done with my other half

i did give her james blunt early and she thinks it is very poor so dont get it for your other half
I'm not sure if she really wants a new Ipod, but her old mini has shocking battery life now, couple of hours or so... I figure/hope the video playing gimmick and far better battery life, along with it's "cute" size, should go down well.
A fair amount of clothes, a bookworm from Basmics' thread (thanks Basmic for that one!) and maybe something else (not saying as she might browse here).
My gf and I tend to get each other one big present at xmas since we usually get anything we want under £30 straight away.
So this year she has tickets to the Foo Fighters next June Also the Pigeon Detectives album (saw them support the Kaiser Chiefs on Saturday and they were great).
Whats the point!?!? Someone said earlier that things don't need to be a surprise?!? In an adult relationship I don't see the point of you each buying the other person something specific they have asked for honestly you might as well just get it yourself now and not wait until Christmas! I'd love to be there when you open your presents it's like 'Wow thanks love you got me that motherboard and case that I emailed you the web links too you amasing!'
