I was looking at this earlier. It would be pretty handy if...

I can plug my 360 into it, one lead (scart?) going into the TV, another lead (VGA) going from 'it' into my monitor.

That way I can select which device I want to play it on.

Can't seem to find that answer or the back of the unit though (cheers for pics, I can see now :))

DONT MENTION COMPETITORS seems expensive for it but u can get it for £75 does seem like quite a handy peice of kit...

Does it do *** u wanted it too?

Got mine on pre-order with Gameplay.
Brilliant idea IMO, my TV has only one set of component inputs and one digital optical. I have my 360, Xbox and the DVD player (plus Sky+ optical out) to hookup to it so this is just what I need. Its also got a ethernet switch built in too so I will be replacing the one behind the telly with it.

Edit:
The picture on the DONT MENTION COMPETITORS site is the older Control Centre 2 I think.

It's just a fancy AV switcher, more geared towards HDTV.

It's very good if you're going to be using multiple units with component HD on a HDTV with only single component input.

Examples will be:

Xbox 360, Sky+ HD, HDDVD Player, PS3, all for one box.

From what I can see, it's especially good for splitting optical sound as well, but I very much doubt it'll decode/encode optical sound for you, just switch it around.

It will not be a digital AV amplifier, it's not going to let people turn their 360 into a 5.1 system, you'll need a separate Digital AV Reciever for that, or an integrated DVD/Speaker package with Digital AV input.

Downside to this, is that it has no HDMI/DVI output, but as the 360 can't output that digital signal, then it doesn't really matter anyway.

is there any cheaper alternatives that do the same thing? of course the way it looks like it is geared more for xbox360

but im sure there will are other similar type devices that do pretty much the same thing at a better price ;)

Funnily enough this is about the cheapest switch for component and digital audio thats about at the moment with all this functionality. I have been looking for a component switch since the middle of last year when we got our new telly and they are pretty thin on the ground.
The only alternatives are the cheapo ones some of the gameshops sell but dont have digital audio or remote. Then there's the B-Tech BT947 which doesnt have a built in network switch or svideo for a quid or two less. Finally some AV amps have the switches built in for component/digital audio but thats another notch up the pricing entirely.
A final deciding factor in my choice for this unit was that the others look like asshats IMO, oh and Joytech won a few awards from the Hi-fi press on their previous switches ;)

Doubt there will be many things cheaper than that, I'd personally say that's a bargain, but I'd be questioning how good the quality of signal and connections would be, if any drop in quality would happen, but I'd have to see it myself.

Of course, there are loads of things out there already, but they'll be four times the price, and be integrated AV Reciever/Amplifiers.

Been looking at a component switch for awhile now since my TV only has one HD input

I was going to get a B-Tech BT947 (£60):

But if the Joytech one supports 5.1 optical I think I'll go for it instead, anyidea when it's out?

Remember the Joytech box will only switch 5.1, not decode anything or stuff, you'll still need a dedicated box of some sort to decode it all and put it through speakers.

Currently trying to choose between the Joytech 245c, Joytech Xbox 360 CC and the B-Tech BT947, bit worried about reported problems with the Wii though, anyone using any of these?

Christ, that was a hell of a bumped post LOL.

I got the 360 CC, picked it up down the high street for £45 second hand (although the box was all still sealed up etc).
Very good unit, works superb with my 360 over the supplied lead. I also have the Wii, original Xbox 1 and my dvd player all hooked up through the component connections and I can spot no loss in quality over connecting directly to the back of the telly.
All in all very happy with it plus I didn't have to sacrifice a plug socket as it just replaced my 4 port network switch behind the tv cabinet too :)

Its a no name one I got from Ebay IIRC. Not noticed any flickering at all. Dont know if its something that affects only LCDs/Plasmas though, I use a 36" CRT Tosh
