Mouse/keyboard support maybe coming for xbox360

It's been done on the xbox before, with mixed results I believe, as it basically converts your WSAD / arrows into the buttons on a controller, and converting mouse movements into analogue movements. I'd have to try it for myself, but I can't imagine it'd be that brilliant.

Looks good to me :D
This would mean the 3k i have spent on new pc and the amount of faulty components involved and the amount of ag getting them replaced could have been avoided !

looks like the xbox is going to kill the pc after all

Terrible idea, I definitely don't want this to happen. I did at first as I had the common fear that 'oh noes I can't play FPS with a controller' but with practise you can easily. This is just gonna ruin the even playing field.

Unless M$ bring an official mouse & keyboard out then this is a very bad idea as it's going to end up taking the fun out of Live gaming as a Joypad can NOT compete with a mouse & keyboard combo

How can something which will make your gaming more accurate reduce your fun level? I've had an 360 for 8 months now and find FPS nowhere near as fun to play as on the PC because of the difficulties in being accurate with a Joypad!

I'll definately get one.

If you read his post more carefully you'll see he means on Live. Can you imagine playing against someone in an FPS with you using a controller and the other person using a keyboard and mouse? Obviously the player using the keyboard and mouse is going to be faster and able to aim and more accurately, hardly fair (fun) is it?

hmm im a pc gamer but when i used to play halo/halo2 on the xbox i used to pwn to the point i literally never lost and i found i was VERY accurate...now i play source i guess im more accurate with the mouse but a pro joypad user might be as good as us lot who have been using a pad for ages and now are going back to the mouse and keyboard

Good for GOW?

I think GOW would be way to easy with a keyboard and mouse, part of the difficulty with the game is the aiming so if you get rid of that with a mouse your away

Not a good idea..

- Removes level playing field.. most common XBL communication to become "Are you using a mouse/keyboard in all online FPS games."
- Game mechanics rely on the layout of the controller. E.g. GoW's holding left trigger for focused view that cannot be similarly implemented on a keyboard/mouse to minimise advantages.
- Game difficulty relies on the controller.. speed of scroll etc.. mouse users are not going to be happy if their scroll speed is limited, imagine using windows with low scroll speed.. it takes about 5 mousepad traversals to get to where your going.

Why are people saying it will not be a level playing field, everyone has the capacity to use a keyboard/mouse if they wish.

Pointless as it just makes the difference from PC and console gaming ever smaller, will end up with same titles and same gameplay. Thats something i don't want which is why im quite excited by the Wii more diversity is a good thing but saying that it looks as though microsoft and sony want to replace the PC with implementations like this in time.

Funny thing is if they introduced this across the board i would probably play my 360 more but if you wanna play with a mouse and keyboard why not just play on the PC, most games are multi platform nowadays anyway.

Awful idea. How to spoil Live in one move.

GoW would also be transformed from a challenging game with satisfying combat into one that is easy and rather dull - just as Halo was when ported to the PC.

It wont spoil it if they implement a regulation , so you can only join games with other mouse users etc

Don't really bother me as I don't use live , but how is it any different to someone using a decent arcade stick for fighters?. A decent stick is so much better than the crappy 360 dpad , yet thats fine ,but this is not? How come , why one rule for one accessory and another for this?.

Bad idea.

I like the level playing field and the fact that I sit in front of the tv. If I was using a mouse and keyboard I'd have to sit at a desk, like playing on a PC.

I think FPS and similar have come a long way on consoles now that makes them playable and enjoyable on a console, without the feeling that you have to have a mouse. I remember back when Halo was first released, I wasn' too keen on the whole FPS console thing. But then when I tried the PC version, I realized just how suited the game was to being played on a console with a gamepad. If you really are that distraught about it, then stick to PC gaming.
