Did i hear beta? how do you get into that? gotta say looks like one awesome game, and the best gfx i seen on the ps3 so far, impressive stuff.
 
Hmm, while it does look pretty in terms of lighting etc, i'm rather concerned about how utterly... bland everything looks. It just looks like it could become a little boring i guess, playing a game that comprises totally of different shades of grey without much colour. Resistance 1 had the same problem at the start of the game and suffered because of it, one of the main reasons i prefer Resistance 2 is because it's so much more varied and bright.

Time will tell however.

It's taken quite a number of words to detail the simple fact that Killzone 2 is a terrific shooter. Undoubtedly, there are still questions many of you may have about the game, and I welcome you to ask them in our comments section. I'll try my best to answer them (perhaps in a separate Q&A post?). PS3 fans have a lot to look forward to when February rolls around. Who knows? Perhaps next year we won't look for the next "Halo-killer," but rather the next Killzone-killer.

Also for those in the London area,
Sony wants to take you to the cinema this evening to watch Aliens and then to play the latest build of PS3 big-gun Killzone 2. That's very kind, especially seeing as 35 pairs of tickets are being given away for free.

The event takes place from 6pm at the VUE cinema in Leicester Square, London. "Real" Helghast soldiers will be marching around to add a bit of drama, and they will be posing for photos and not actually shooting people or repelling invasions.

To win a pair of tickets you'll need to be over 18 and available this evening. Just register on the Killzone website and then email Sony, providing your name, address and contact number. Jokes may or may not be tolerated; we're not suggesting anything.

Names will then be whisked out of a magical Harry Potter hat at 4pm, when the entries close. Winners will be notified in good time. Oh, and travel expenses will not be covered.

The film, which doesn't feature Sigourney Weaver in her underpants but we wish it did, starts at 6pm. The Killzone 2 pods will be in the bar area. Lovely.

I wonder how good this will be compared to Resistance 2 - never though I would say that a month ago but Killzone 2 is gonna have to be good.

Its pretty much an automatic pre-order with SF4 so at least I have Feb to get the rest of my games played...

KZ2 knocks the socks off R2 (which is still a great game in its own right though) - come February you'll be going 'Resistance what?'.

I'd daresay it might give Halo 3 a run for its money, but judging from the beta, the expansiveness of it might not be anywhere near as much as Halo 3 would be - but then again, it's hardly fair at all to compare an extremely limited beta to a full, retail game that has had several tweaks and map-packs out for it so far. It'd be hard to top both campaign and multiplayer. The exclusion of co-op at launch will dent the game, but I know the developers plan to patch it in, in the future.

Pretty much sums up my feelings too. I won't be too upset if KZ2 turns out to be pants; the PS3 already has a shooter that's good enough for me.
 
A mock-up multiplayer trailers on home at the minute. Was just watching it in the Bowling Allet. Dunno how long its been there though.
 
I entered the comp for the hell of it earlier today and just found out I won! w00p! I get to play me some Killzone 2 tonight! :D
 
any plans to open the beta to more players? how are things going in the beta btw?

(just been watching lots of stuff on plyr about it)

criticisms ive seen so far

a)throwing nades is slow and tricky

b) spawn killing

c) you have to teamkill a team8 to pickup the "briefcase" ;) because they hold onto it when they are mortally wounded

apart from that everything else is lush juicy gorgeousness - soooo soo jealous

I am fairly sure the USA beta is closed now. Unless I am mistaken that is it now until release date (unless there is a demo released or another beta?).

I watched some footage of killzone2 on playr earlier today and it looks exellent , it was from the campain mode which i havent seen that much of compared to the multiplayer side of things and i am definitely going to buy this :) .
