Hello,
This might be a dumb question but to use “Lucid Virtu” do I need to plug the HDMI cable into my graphics card or the on board port or does it matter?

Edit, cable plugged where (obviously!)

No personal experience on this, but reading a manual about it, there are 2 options depending on what you want from Lucid Virtu:

i-Mode is for power saving when you're not 3D gaming. Connect it to the motherboard video output.

d-Mode is for performance. Connect it to the discrete card output.

That’s how I read it as well but I can’t see that been correct, no point having the function if you have to physically move the HDMI cable, you could do that without Lucid Virtu?

From my understanding,

Using I-mode it takes a 10-15% overhead due to the data being sorted on the graphics card and then outputted through the IGPU, the benefit is that in an idle state the discrete GPU can be turned off completely. Then you get some of the benfits of Quick sync and things like that with the onboard GPU doing more work.

Using d-mode you don't get any power saving benefits but it allows the onboard GPU to be used for quick sync....

There is also all the V sync stuff to allow the IGPU to do other stuff with the Z77 motherboards....

As i don't own any recent hardware i am working on my memory of what appeared in anandtech articles over the years. I would advise looking there for more consice information as its all there.

i am using this in world of warcraft.
Tried in bf3 and something is srsly ****ed up.
Vram usage around 4gb !!! Might be cos i run in 3d or something. Normally i got 1.4gb of vram usage.

I got my monitor connected to gpu...

I read that with z77 ivy bridge, unlike z68, it doesn't matter where you plug it in, and can use both modes with either configuration. Can't find the source on this though.

Sounds a bit more useful - I'm interested in the "i mode" for keeping power consumption and temps down when I'm not gaming (which is unfortunately not a lot any more)

ssmacc its working with sandy alrd....
I will try 2 post some tests later if im bothered :P

ok guys did a run for you....
**** is ****ed up :
Score in Heaven is lower with this **** on....... You get more max fps but there is bug or i dont know.... Did screenshot to show Vram usage after run with MVP on.

i did 2 runs with MVP on cos could not believe ....
MVP off have not done screenshot but vram constant around 780mb

100 heaven points more.
Still totaly ****ed vram usage growing and growing.....
It must be bug of some sort
First fills vram
then moves to system ram
then moves to sawp file !!!!
then pc crash out of memory !!!!

I'm also drinking beer! Will look again tomorrow...(although I'm not sure I'll understand this sober). Thanks

well from what i see there is some bug....
I did 10 runs now.
Each time if i got MVP on virtual sync or hyperperformance or both. Vram usage keeps growing and growing....
Something i ****ed with memory clearing or whatever.
If it would take lets say extra 400 vram constant it would be ok to run with games. Atm its ****ing usless

so it seems its not only my problem.... it got massive memory leak....

But in WoW i have no problems with memory leak.... 650-700 vram usage hmmm

It seems to me it works perfectly fine in older dx9 games, but they haven't managed to get it working for the latest games as of yet.
