Bohemia Interactive prepares to go up, up, and away, into the stars, with Take On Mars, the new game in the Take On series.
Take On Mars places you in the seat of a Rover Operator, allowing you to control the various, fully simulated mobile Rovers and stationary Landers. With this scientific arsenal at your disposal, you will work your way through the numerous Science Missions in each location, unlocking the secrets of Mars' distant past.
“Explore the scarred face of another world. Journey through rocky terrain and sandy wastes, pushing your vehicles to the max in this new installment to the Take On series.”

Featuring 3 main gameplay modes, explore the unforgiving Martian terrain:
Space Program - Explore Mars from the perspective of a science-driven Space Agency. Develop new technologies, vehicles and instruments to tackle the tasks ahead.
Scenarios - Head straight to the surface of Mars and complete individual missions centered around various Science Missions and objectives.
Editor - Create scenarios with complex missions, or just play around with whatever you wish in this limitless, free-form mode.

The most notable features in Take On Mars include:
Dynamic destruction system – Break off cameras, robotic arms, even individual struts and wheels, all affecting the way the vehicle handles.
Economy – Send missions to Mars with the budget you have available, raised by completing missions and individual tasks.
Realistic Terrain – Explore the surface of Mars in locations based on actual satellite data from locations such as Victoria Crater.

Last, but certainly not least, Take On Mars will be heavily aimed at modability, allowing users to create and share their own custom content, including scenarios, vehicles, and locations. Everything in the game is modifiable.

Digital release (PC only) is set for Q3 2013 and the price is expected to be €9,99.

Looking forward to this! Take On: Helicopters is amazing and this could open up a whole new type of open world Mars mod!

I like the sound of this especially if they incorporate some of the latest findings.

I don't suppose they'll incorporate terraforming. Sort of based around Kim Stanley Robinson's Mars triology. Is there a game around this?

That looks very interesting. I've got Take On Helicopters, but not got round to playing it yet. Have heard really good things about it though.

As someone that is very interested in astronomy and science, this looks like it could be very interesting. On my watch list. For £10ish can't really go wrong.

I've got take on helicopters but my pc isn't up to it :/

Don't know why its not visually that impressive, seems to be common with bohemia games to have performance issues.

Well BI games have never been on any list for the having the best graphics but they sure know how to make them and how to support the community.

Can't say I have had any major problems but I know there are lots that do.

On topic - Imagine all the new missions you could create using this! Cannot wait!

They require a highly clocked CPU and don't scale that well on multiple cores. Keep draw distance at a low enough level and it should be fine (it needs CPU power as well, not only GPU).

However, the new version of the engine, that also powers ArmA 3 seems pretty solid, I would say they're on the right track.

Heh this looks good, After playing KSP loads recently I currently cannot wait to also try this. Even though I'll probably crash a million times over. :)
