The first teaser for the Mark Wahlberg-starring Max Payne movie was released early this morning. The film is currently slated to debut on October 17.

John Moore (Behind Enemy Lines, Flight of the Phoenix, The Omen) is directing the film, with a script penned by Beau Thorne, a first-time screenwriter.

Rounding out the cast is Beau Bridge as Payne's mentor B.B. Hensley, and Mila Kunis as the female assassin Mona.

The adaptation of the M-rated Max Payne series has been described as suitably dark by those involved in the project, though the film is apparently shooting for a PG-13 rating.

"The movie is PG-13," said cast member Kunis in a recent interview with ReelzChannel. "It's incredibly dark. You still get the gist of it. The only different between R-rated and PG-13 is you might not see as much blood."

Not sure about mila kunis being cast into it but it looks fairly cool, wonder what a non pg13 version would be like though.

I think she'll do a job, she's a good actress and her work on Family Guy will have stood her in good stead when it comes to delivering lines. Plus, she's hot. :p

Oh Yeah, Mila Kunis!
Even if this film ends up being awful (which it will, thanks to the rating) I can always stare at her through the film.
Curse her for not being single! :p

This film needs to capture the darkness/atmosphere in order for it to work. Also needs some John Woo gunplay thrown in ala Face Off/Hard Boiled.

The action scenes do look ok though. I Hope its good.

Is nobody else worried by the PG-13 thing.....I mean the game was a 15 or 18 wasn't it?

Remember the start going into the house and finsing the dead child.....how are they going to handle stuff like that.

Looks interesting, but the whole thing with the winged creatures is a bit odd.

Could be some sort of dream sequence and not something that actually happens in the film. Well that's what I'm hoping for because there was nothing really supernatural about the games like that.

Overall I think the trailer looks really good, Mark Wahlberg although not my first choice for the role of Max Payne will do an excellent job as he's a brilliant actor. Quite looking forward to this now.

True the dream sequences did throw caution to the wind with regards to what went on in them - some really odd ones as I recall. Still I suppose they might have introduced them as another foe for Mr. Payne to face off with rather than lots of bloody battles with humans like in the films - seeing a big winged creature die could be less disturbing than a man being blown away by a shotgun.

hope this sparks Max Payne 3

1 & 2 are the coolest games ever, graphics were awesome for the time, and don't look that dated now
