So i was interested in a contract deal on o2, 24 months 30 quid a month and 600 mins + 1000 texts..

It also features a phone im after the SE C902, with a free PS3.
Thing is I tried emailing them to ask some questions.
No reply
Then I thought I'll just call.. on hold for 10 minutes to the SALES time.. which is never a good sign.

Fact is I've effectively not been able to contact that, and certain review sites don't rate them that highly especially when they're getting faults with their phones, which from what I've experienced trying to contact them as someone interesting in buying there products and failing miserably, I can already relate to.

I also heard from a *lovely* P4U sales assistant that the reason online tariffs are cheaper is because the handsets are reconditioned or second hand.. would like to know if anyone can call this mans bluff?

Finally.. these PS3 deals - anyone taken one up. Im a bit worried it might also be a reconditioned machine, or theres no warranty on them or something..

i am two also intrested in this company mobiles.co.uk

i have also heard mixed reviews on them

would be intrested in a ps3 deal with them also

re: phones4u guy thing.

tbh i would never trust anything a sales person tells you. carephone warehouse i believe are p4u main competitor so will really want you to go to them over mobiles.co.uk so may exaggerate a bit, maybe sometimes the phone is reconditioned as will be the case for any company you go with, e.g. overclockers. i have had a reconditioned monitor from them when bought as brand new. i got it replaced very quickly but none the less it seems pretty standard for al companies, including phones4u, to do.

also iirc the ps3 deals always end up costing more, unless they have changed but in the past it would end up say costing a further £300 on your bills for a "free" console.

yes but if your already paying 35 for the same tarif over 18 months then it doesnt see that much more, or even 30 a mont

I've been looking at a deal on dialaphone for vodafone

£45 month, 900mins, unlimited internet, unlimitied landline and 500 texts with some crap sony phone (dont want a phone anyway as i'm too attached to my n958gb) and with £400 automatic cashback after 28 days.

Vodafone themselves cant come anywhere near close to that, makes no sense to me!

aye the ps3 deal is set up in a very biased deal but i've found one to be particularly appealing and to be honest i more or less view it as getting a ps3 additionally on credit :p

I was guessing the p4u guy was a wind up merchant, if I ever manage to get a hold of mobiles.co.uk which i tried calling and emailing with no luck, im sure i'll find out!

All free gifts such as the Nintendo Wii, Laptops, Xbox 360 and iPods are despatched at the same time as your new mobile phone. Please note that non-payment of your phone bills at any time within the first 6 months will result in you being charged the full retail cost of the free gift. If you wish to return your phone under our 14 day guarantee you will also need to return the free gift, unopened and unused.

Please note this only refers to customers who placed an order on or after February 8th 2008 - if you ordered your phone previous to this date please contact Customer Services on 01923 80 4444, option 7.
Do I need to claim my free gift?

Unlike other mobile phone retailers, Mobiles.co.uk will send out both your free gift and your new mobile at the same time. No claim is necessary, but you must be aware that any return has to include both phone and free gift in order to qualify for cancellation. At this time it is not possible to purchase the free gift and return just the handset.

mobiles.co.uk are owned by cackphone whorehouse. I've been with them for my last 4 phones and never had any issues. Cashback or gift has arrived prompty (within 21 days), phone has arrived next day and I have no complaints about them or their service. All in all then, a very good place to shop online, although I always phone them.

well i finally spoke to them the other day and they were pretty up front about their offers and mentioned how all the stock was new so the P4U was talking absolute spill which doesnt suprise me tbh.

If i can keep my number on o2 payg to o2 contract i think i'll go for it, if I have any horror stories i'll let ppl know :P

why have you choosen to believe mobiles.co.uk and not phones4u though? if mobiles lied looks like they got a sale.

i'm not saying that they are lying but never trust a sales person, especially if they are paid on commission.

Bought my last phone through mobiles, as soon as it came through I PAC'ed my number over and even changed the bolt on with my o2 package no problem. Can't claim my cashback till later though so still waiting on that, quidco is still showing the amount in my balance.

Just make sure you cancel the free insurance and the other thing they apply before the month is over.

Totally my opinion but I'd rate p4u the worst by a mile in the industry for this sort of tactics (as in bull**** they tell customers to land a sales commission). Stock in mobile land comes from a few places but p4u arn't some beacon of hope - they just get their stock wholesale oem like cpw do for most of their phones.

I bought my Desire from Mobiles.co.uk, it was brand new and I can't say I've had any problems with them via email. They are a NIGHTMARE to get hold of on the blower though, I know what you mean about being kept on hold :(

Wow, getting a bit heated in here, best keep the thread on track without the racist comments.

I've used them for my last 3 contracts and had great service from them. Been the cheapest I could find and always received my cashback as well. Remember to go through quidco and pocket another £50 for a contract.

P4U are a complete joke of a company, worked for them for a year before quitting in disgust.

Mobiles can do cheap deals because they use grey-box (unbranded) stock and sell them with a sim-only contract, discounting the phone based on the commission they get for the contract sale.
