As thread title, and I'm sorry if this has already been addressed. Everywhere I look I see TN panels which are 24". Are there are any that aren't? If not I'll have to look at getting a 23" which I really don't want to do.

Are those new BenQ monitors likely to be as bad as the EW2420 when it comes to ghosting, or is there some improvements to make it better?

Why the adversion to 23 inches, incidentally?

I watch a lot of films, sometimes from a distance, so what the monitor to be as big as possible within price, which is 250 max.

The Benq looks very big, OCUK don't stock it though, so I'll have to go elsewhere for it.

Dubb3d - the 'ghosting' issue is one to stay on any VA panel I'm afraid. The main thing I am interested in would be more consistent good quality as the EW2420 is a killer screen for movies and 'light' gaming if you get a good unit. But the 'if' factor is a bit of a problem.

Lysander - I understand the 'bigger is better' mentalility if you are interested in movie watching in particular. I would currently recommend the VA-panel route for this due to the stunning contrast and nice 'in your face' colours for a reasonable price. If BenQ (and AU Optronics) can get their act together for the upcoming 'EW' monitors then they would be ones to look out for. They are also launching a 27 inch version which you may be interested in but I couldn't say whether it would be over your budget. They seem to be going for a more premium look and feel this time around - I just hope they can match this appeal where it counts.

How bad is the ghosting anyway? I do play games but I wouldn't describe myself as a massive gamer. In spite of playing L4D2 for several hours. I'm currently on a Hyundai W240D. Do you know how they would compare?

I would like to think the response time compensation algorithm is superior on the newer BenQ panels but the trailing may be quite similar in places. The most noticeable trailing that occurs during high-contrast transitions will probably appear similar to on your Hyundai, in theory. Although I haven't used the Hyundai myself I have used a plethora of VA panels and the EW2420 was one of the stronger VA panels I've used in that department.
