Death/Dying

I'm scared of any pain when I die and I'm scared I will feel regret at some things I didn't do or achieve.

I accept it'll happen eventually.
I don't believe in afterlife.
I wouldn't do something overly risky, e.g. motor racing.
I wouldn't want to live too long, quality of life is a factor.
At some point it'll hit me that I'm old and I'll have regrets.

Do you remember a long wait before being born? You suddenly gained consciousness with no conscience of what had come before. Reckon dying is like that.

The pain of death, whatever it maybe, fear of the unknown and the nothingness, although I surmise you wouldn't be aware of the nothingness, being dead will leave me aware of nothing, probably, as if I never was.

For me it's not the pain of dying etc, its the nothingness afterwards.

Well hopefully it wont be like youre conscious while floating around in nothingness. You wont have any consciousness..with any luck :o

but yeah, its the pain often associated with death that worries me.

No, it happens to us all so pointless being afraid of it.

Do I want it to happen? Of course not, but I'm not afraid of it.

I'd be more afraid of being in pain leading to death, say a horrible disease, or being tortured or something.

I think the fact I don't believe in any afterlife, reincarnation etc is the main factor for me that I don't like. I fear just not existing, not being here is a scary thought for sure.

Isle of Man deaths has to be the worst.

Absolutely **** scared beyond imagination of dying and I can't think deeply about it for more than a couple seconds before I have to shake my head to try and rid my brain of the despair..
However when doing reckless things in life, I never give it a second thought.. What will be will be. really
Not in the slightest bit religious either.. That is almost as unfathomable as death.

As long as you do something greater than yourself, I think it matters little.

But more time to do great things is a pain every intellectual has felt.

I think you need to accept it and live your life, many a life has been ruined by fearing death.

As you get older this becomes more apparent.
