A 706MB view of a galaxy 11.6 Million light years away taken by the Hubble telescope can be downloaded and viewed here but be warned, the image used over 1GB of ram to display in Photoshop but the detail when viewed 100% is sublime.

I thought they were producing the Hubble 2 which was going to be able to do even more than the latest updates they made to the first one....

Nope. Hubble will seize to be serviced and will die a slow death. Its is to be replaced by the James Webb telescope;

However this one is designed for IR waves rather than visible light, so it remains to be seen if we get any beautifull images like Hubble has produced. It will be more productive from a scientific point of view though as it will be able to look futher back towards the beginning of the universe to try and answer the question of what caused the big bang. The James Webb is actually smaller than hubble, but its primary mirror is massivly larger due to it being made of 16(I think) unfolding hexagonal mirrors. :)

Hubble 1Ds Mark II

Actually it would be more like Hubble 1Ds MKIIi ;)
