Netgear WN121T causes terrible audio stuttering on Vista

I was looking for a Vista-compatible wireless-N adapter and bought the Netgear WN121T and DG834N bundle from OcUK, after checking Netgear's site and finding drivers for Vista.

After installing the WN121T USB adapter, I get terrible audio stuttering. It lasts for about 5 seconds and happens about once a minute. At first I thought I was having an issue with audio codecs or sound card drivers, but I soon found that the stuttering was happening to all my audio and video, regardless of which application I used, or which sound card I used. I also noticed that the stuttering always coincided with the activity light flashing very brightly several times on the WN121T.

If I disable the WN121T in the Device Manager or in Network Connections, the problem disappears, but it's a bit pointless connecting to the expensive new DG834N on my old bog-standard wireless-G card.

Some research on the web turns up dozens of similar complaints, but Netgear have not as yet done anything about the problem.

So, I was just wondering, has anyone here bought this adapter and had similar problems, and did they manage to solve it?

Thanks in advance.

i cant even get my wireless to connect properly at the moment. I think I have a major problem.

I can see the network I have made (after making up a cable long enough to plg the silly thing in hardwired from my machine)

I can try to connect to it, and add a WPA + slk 3233999+++ what the hell encryption passkey.

but then it does nothing. just sits there trying to connect, eventually stops trying and the network I once saw has gone from the list. I have tried windows network software, and the netgear supplied software.

afraid I am not really posting any useful information. sorry.

edit:

and the netgear support site hasn't worked since friday when I tried to have a browse.

Did you add your computer MAC Address to the Trusted Wireless Stations which is found in the setup Access list under the wireless settings on the router ???
