I have searched but couldn't find much (recent, anyway). I was hoping you lot could recommend me some good shows that I may not have seen, old or new and pretty much any genre.

Some I have seen:

Freaks and Geeks - Awesome show
Red Dwarf
Angel
Firefly
Veronica Mars

I'm also pretty up to date on newer shows such as:

Family Guy
Prison Break
Lost
Heroes
Bones
Weeds

Thanks :)

If you can look past the initial pretentiousness The West Wing is very good. The dialogue is good, you really warm to the characters and the insight into politics (albeit American politics) is quite fascinating at times.

Dexter is also very good, a brief synopses would be; a serial killing serial killer. After seeing the first episode i was expecting a bit of an action/horror type series but instead it turned out to be a very deep look into the psychology of the main character, with a good storyline thrown in.

Already recommended but The Wire is superb. Superb characters, superb dialogue, superb everything. The only very small downside is that it takes a couple of episodes to get into it.

If you liked Family guy, I'm pretty sure you'll like American dad too, imo it's even much better than Family guy :).

Dexter, Medium, Arrested Development, The Lost Room, Heroes, Alan Partridge, Bottom, Blackadder

For the old-skool bbc comedy fan in you, Coupling?

Black books.

I see you've watched Firefly, does that mean you've also seen Serenity?

Reaper and Chuck - the best new TV series I have seen in a long time. For an older series try Jeremiah - watching it again at the moment and really enjoying it for the second time.
