Just watching Panorama at the moment, which is focusing on these "happy slap" attacks. Some of these scenes are absolutely horrific. Girls being knocked unconscious.

Anyone else watching? Anyone else been victim, or witnessed one of these attacks?

i'm watching it and can't beleve that there is no1 @ youtube/google monitoring for this discusting abuse, it's sickening at home some think it "funny" to watch others being attacked and then show it to their m8's. it's sickening :mad:

I have witnessed one to an old gran on a bus here in Liverpool. I had no idea what it was called at the time though but all was explained when the happy slapper thing hit the news.

I started a thread ages ago where some guy fought back against some happy slapper and it was sweet to watch. I think it was taken down from youtube -but it made it to The Times

the woman from google or youtube says its the police job to find the videos and request the videos to be removed.

Its surely the sites job to monitor the videos uploaded and report the crimes to the police as oppose to the police monitoring the site? what a joke. makes me angry.

I've just watched that too. Horrible stuff!

Am I right in thinking that all the faces were only blanked out cause it was on TV and would not be blanked out in the videos online? So you could tell who had done it?

I agree. It gives these criminals motive to perform these acts as their getting away with it. Google needs to be more strict with content.

It was absolutely sickening seeing those girls knocked unconscious. The way that african girl fell to the ground. :mad:

Only blanked out on TV for legal reasons, coupled with victims not wanting their faces to be shown. All content can be viewed online free of any blanking out.

Fights happen at school. With all these new mobile-phones, of course it's going to happen.

Perhaps it would be sensible to ban mobiles from schools in the first place?

Youtube et al. can remove the videos, but they're still going to be knocking about in one form or another.

Yeah, looks like google have already started to turn into M$. Shame really. I wouldn't actually mind if the whole of chavtube was shutdown.

That's doing the rounds in the Scottish Parliament just now, but of course the parents are up in arms that the kids mobiles might be taken away so the parents are moaning about child safety.

I didn't watch Panorama, but a while back I found a video involving a whole group of people throwing stuff and generally bullying some other kid (it definitely seemed like a serious video, not a prank). I emailed Google with the video URL etc. and they came back to me about a week later saying it doesn't break any of their T&Cs so they wouldn't remove it :rolleyes:

I dont think it is their job or responsibility,

Even if they did and took down the videos in question thats not going to stop them from carrying out these assults etc in the first place and filming them.

The sick little buggers can still send them by email/bluetooth etc to there friends.
