hi

I need to extend the range of my wireless network, as i cannot connect at the bottom of my garden. What options do i have? My wireless router is located at the front of my house and i cannot move it.

Thanks in advance :)

Its a bt router, as far as i know the areial does not detach. i was wondering if you could get another router or access point and use it in another room to boost the range.

I'm a bit green to wireless networking sorry :)

Get some foil and make a shield in front of the aerial, this will stop excess signal pointlessly leaving the front of your house and help focus any signal coming in from the bottom of your garden (assuming back garden)..

There was an excellent thread in here last year about making your own parabolic antenna with a wok or something, now the search facility is gone I couldn't find it.

Interesting site, bit extreme for my case i think:D , was thinking of something smaller.

get a netgear rangemax router - i used to have the same problems so i got one of these now i get a very good signal when before it used to be low.
