Hi guys

I'm starting to prefer listening to podcasts at the moment over music especially when walking the dog/driving etc.

Anyone know of any podcasts that they listen to which get updated weekly (or sooner)? Not bothered about subject, if its a well organised podcast and fairly interesting I'll listen!

I listen to some gaming ones mostly.

www.giantbomb.com and their bombcast is my favourite, funny, well put together, informative and great people on it. Also on giantbomb is the 8-4 play podcast, this is every other week though. They are a localisation company that work in Japan and work on Japanese games and bringing them to the west.

www.idlethumbs.net have a few. Idlethumbs (one of them), hosted by game devs who give their take on games they are currently playing and the gaming industry as a while. Some worked at double fine and telltale games and also worked on last years The Walking Dead game which won a load of awads. They have broken off and created Campo Santo now though. On the same site they have a book club one, a strategy game one and also Tone control which is a game dev talking to other devs in how they got to where they are, decisions made in games they have created etc.. Had Tim Shacufer, John Blow and a load more on there.

www.tested.com This is mainly tech news and they talk about some gaming stuff on occassion, also enjoyable.

5live movie review with Mayo & Kermode, everyone should know this one by now.

Giantbomb and idlethumbs both have amazing communities to go along with them.

TV on the Internet - TV talk with the A.V Club's TV Editor and his wife.
The Tech Report - Tech
The Red Room Podcast - TV
PC Perspective Podcast - Tech

I use Doggcatcher on Android to automatically download one episode of each feed when i get home and connect to my wifi. That way i have enough to get through the next day.

Edit: To see what's popular i find the itunes podcast charts a good resource:

Comedian Bill Burr has a Monday morning Podcast:

www.billburr.com/podcast‎

Website looks like it's down at the moment.

He's been doing this for years. For anyone that doesn't know, this is 'Kuby' from Breaking bad.
His stand-up is hilarious.
He covers current news, sports, jokes and advice emails from listeners.

I listen to these on a weekly basis.

Most are a good hour, with the exception of Giant Bomb, which can be up to 3hrs at a time  I find them decent enough for a 1hr commute, and they do raise a few chuckles as well as being interesting too.
  • The Comedy Button
  • Rooster Teeth
  • Giant Bombcast
  • BBC 5L - Mark Kermode & Simon Mayo's Film Reviews
  • Still Untitled: The Adam Savage Project (that guy from Mythbusters)
  • The Steve Austin Show (Unleashed)

I love "The Random Show" - general tech/life discussions with Kevin Rose and Tim Ferris. Hard to sum it up as it is indeed random but always great to watch/listen.

How Did This Get Made This is my favourite podcast. It's 3 actors, Paul Scheer, June Diane Rapheal and Jason Mantzoukas talk about terrible films.
It's absolutely hilarious! A good episode to see what it's like is their synopsis of 'I Know Who Killed Me' or 'Catwoman'.

Definitely give this a try

Others I listen to are:

  • Fat Man on Batman
  • Giant Bomb
  • No Sleep
  • Knifepoint Horror
  • The Bugle

Fatman on Batman is Kevin Smith talking about his love of Batman. He's a bit of a dick but it's still a nice listen.
Giant Bomb is a few guys talking about random crap and computer games
No Sleep and Knifepoint Horror are both horror stories which can be really good sometimes!

I've only started listening to the Bugle recently and it is hilarious. John Oliver and Andy Zaltzman talk about social and news articles, probably the finest analysis I've heard.
So funny

I think for the most part, the only ones that I listen to regularly, are

* Giantbomb
* Still Untitled - The Adam Savage Project
* This is only a test
* Afterbuzz TV

This is only a test & Still Untitled, are both done by tested.com who produce a lot of content featuring adam savage, who happens to be an extremely good articulator of information in an interesting manner. Afterbuzz tv can be a pain sometimes as they cover a lot of tv shows, but I find it interesting from time to time.

If you search "ricky gervais" on youtube and look at Playlist results, there's one with 200 vids of him, Karl and Stephen that go on for hours and are literally the best thing to listen to there is.

My one podcast he no longer seems to do :(, the last one was 6 Sep 2013. It was Michio Kaku Science Fantastic.

I need a new general science/physics one. But Michio is just a God.

Like youtube, I don't get how you find stuff. Other than stumbling upon it.
