24/08/10 - Project finally starts on Page 3 !!!!

Firstly, do you see those 2 stars, arn't they pretty ;)

So, along with Mr Fonzee I am also now in possession of a DC2, but mine had the proper front end rather than some weird accord type hybrid-r :D

After seeing a number of cars around I finally settled for the one in my local town. It seemed the best one in this price range and I really couldn't be bothered to travel around anymore. But all was not rosy, and after paying the man (well young lad) in the bank I went for my first drive. Found a nice road and after having some fun up through the gears I chaged into 5th and.......... CRUUUUUUUUNCH  The next 5 mins in the car would cause every swear box on this planet to detonate drowing us all in mustard :(

But alas, otherwise she is great, and depending on iff the MTF oil fixes the crunch (unlikely), she will be off to TGM sometime to get the gearbox rebuilt, a little arch rust sorted, and some mods put it to restore some happiness.

Regular updates will come (and hopefully the weather won't make the pics soo dark), but this next week I will be busy with a job transition, but if I get anymore time some paint correction might be squeezed in

A wash after my rag around the local countryside.

Absolutely love driving it, but will plan in some advanced tuition to really help me find her limits, as I'm afraid of running out of talent on these slippery roads whilst riding on RE010s.

Note the removal of those horrible rust causing arch liners!!!

First go at the roof with clay (1hr), AG SRP x2 coats, Collonite 476 x2 coats.... Crap picture, but much much better than when I picked her up, although you can tell CW paint wasn't made to win any shows ;)

to prevent damaging the rubber window seals with the machine polisher ?

also, looks like the rain channels are rubber too.

Nice :D Did you not notice the crunch when you test drove it?

And yeah it's not really a project, more a worklog, that's why I asked a passing mod to rename my MX5 thread :p

Not machine polishing, just SRP by hand, but I had just cleaned the rubbers so didn't want polish all over them :p

UK!!

*Runs off a cliff*

JDM scummer :p:D

so whats the project?

Bringing it back up to standard, modifying, gearbox, yadda yadda

Nope, he test drove it both times I had a drive and I made him test all the gears. As it happens at about 50mph when changing into 5th then I'm positive that he changed up in the same area as the crunch happens, as we certainly were not going under 50 ;) I think it is just a case of extremely bad luck.

WOrklog is probably a better name for teh thread, but it is still my project :)

I love Tegs, good look with this, I'm looking forward to updates.

Love DC2's, is the bonnet open or has that car been in a light frontend crash, bonnet doesn't seem to fit correctly at the front?

That's just how they are, our JDM Si has the same front end and fits even worse than this.

Synchro problems are common too, generally only noticeable during higher rpm shifts.

I need to give ours a run because the brakes are rusting and I lust for Vtec! :D

Block changing down is what kills the syncros on these VTEC engined cars.

Good luck with the project and sort the arch rust ASAP
