How to use a PS3 Dual Shock pad as a MS Xbox 360 pad for your PC..

Follow the instructions here -

http://www.motioninjoy.com/blog/run-console-controllers-pc-games

Remember to set the DS Tool profile to Microsoft Xbox 360 emulation.

Then once you've done this, rumbble will not work. You need this -

Download and install http://www.motioninjoy.com/uploadfiles/MotioninJoy_vibration_0100.rar .

Vibration didn't work for me (Windows 7 x64) until I installed this secondary driver.

You might need to reboot, and as always, take caution and backup your system if you think this might cause problems.. worked fine for me.

For wireless DS3 support you need a Bluetooth dongle.

Oh and if you don't want to have to press F8 each time you want to use your DS3 pad. then this'll stop it -

You can permanently disable driver signature enforcement from within Windows. Run a Command window (cmd.exe) as administrator, and enter the following:

* bcdedit.exe -set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
* bcdedit.exe -set TESTSIGNING ON

Doing this prevents you from having to reboot when installing and using these drivers. It will add a “Test Mode” logo on the bottom right of your desktop, to remind you that driver signature enforcement is permanently disabled.

This tip makes games like Batman and Dirt2 so much more fun, but with a PS DS3 pad, and not a MS Xbox 360 pad..

Enjoy..

why would you want to use a PS3 controller instead of a 360 controller?
i ahve both, one for my ps3 and one for my PC and i MUCH prefer the 360 controller
one of the few things the 360 did right!

Choice and I actually can't find a wireless adaptor for my existing 360 pad and I don't really want to have to buy another wired 360 pad, so this will work instead..

And some folks like the PS3 pad more then the 360 pad... Its all down to choice..

i guess you are right, i prefer the rumble controller over the SixAxis - just feels more solid and that it wont break if i sneeze!
either way both are good controllers so i guess its down to preference :)

your thread topic is miss leading( even tho its in the pc games thread lol) i thought you could use a ps3 pad on a 360 console!

I'll give you one example. I have 1x wired Xbox 360 controller for the PC and 2x Wireless PS3 controllers for the PS3. Doing this sounds like a good way to play some 2 player games/emulators on the PC.

MS have made a new driver where you can just plug in a wireless pad with a play and charge kit and it works too!

I can see this being useful if you don't have a 360 PC controller but otherwise it's pointless, 360 controller is vastly superior to the PS3 one.

Reboot your PC Press F8 when you see the flashing cursor after the BIOS screen,You will see the Advanced Boot Options screen. Use your keyboard arrow keys to go down to the "Disable Driver Signature Enforcement" option and press the "Enter" button. Do this every reboot.

Meh

edit, oh theres a fix. hm

I absolutely hate the 360 controller. It was one of the main reasons I sold it for a PS3. :)

I don't suppose you could link something about this? I've had a quick look and came up with nothing.

Haven't got a link sorry as I just plugged the controller in to play a bit of Just cause 2.

Saw that it now realizes thatit's via the play and charge kit, so took my wireless adapter out and low a behold it was still working! :D

I had wanted MS to do this since the start for wireless pads and it looked like they finally listened! :P

I've been using this for a while since I couldn't find the last drivers I was using. It's really good, but a real hastle every reboot to remember to disable the driver signature thing. Running it wired instead of bluetooth and it works great, full vibration, sixaxis and everything. Works fine in Win 7 x64 as well.
