Right, now that i have got your attention please help me get that last 175mhz to reach 4gig.

Asus Maximus Formula SE
Q6600 G0
4x1GB Geil ULL 6400
Tuniq Tower w/ AS5

Currently sitting at

425x9 - 3825 1.5v in BIOS 1.48 in Windows and IS STABLE temps - 47c idle
860mhz 5-5-5-15 2.2v in BIOS 2.3 in Windows, RAM is rated to a max of 2.3v

i feel that im pushing the volts a tad too much as it is. cant afford to replace 4 sticks of ram so i cant really up the volts any more there.

im thinking that the next volts to up are the NB, what about the CPU PLL??

ive tried upping the NB to 1.51v and the vcore to 1.51250v which is 1.496v in windows.

you can check the pic in my sig :)

RAM just lossen out to 5-5-5-23 will be fine
NB = 1.5v
PLL I would keep it on auto you shouldnt need it

would guess you need some more vcore

Booting to windows @ 4ghz shouldnt be an issue... getting it prime stable is :)

EDIT: in regards to vcore, remember is heat that kills CPU's not volts.. as long as your temps are ok you can keep raising the vcore.. I have run 1.65 vcore on air to get my Q6600 to boot to windows @ 4.3ghz you just have to watch the temps

for a quad core would use Prime95

Sorry to burst your bubble but I dont think you will get Prime95 stable on a tuniq not @ 4ghz on that sort of vcore.. the heatsink simply isnt up to it.. and the fan is to much of a nancy :)

yea i ment prime95, latest version, are they not the same thing, prime and orthos?? :S

what cooler are you using? fan is at full tilt here, sounds like a vacum

Am on a thermalright Ultra 120 - Extreme with a 3700 RPM monster riding it :)

See here :)

Thats the fan steping up through the RPM, camera is about 30cm from the case

Prime will stress all 4 cores, orthos only 2

Get something like this ......

But it is now like this cos the deltas were too fracking loud with the PC living in the lounge :) These are barely audible when cranked up ... still, I got 4.014Gig on em :D Just trying to get it stable now - Prime is the only thing that fails so far at that speed so I must be nearly there !!!! .....

Tbh... I dont think that two fan make any difference... at high clock speeds 3.8ghz+ I find there is very little difference in temps when running my delta @ 3000RPM or 3700RPM leading me to believe the heatsink itself is at its max thermal load and that the airflow generated at 3000RPM is enough to move this.. so extra fan speed makes very little difference..

I have seen some reviews where they use more than 1 fan.. and it making a little difference 2/3c but then they didnt have the "monster" airflow to start with :)

ofc at that point you want as much recycling of case air as possible to ensure that the ambient doesnt rise.. :) tis where you need the extra detla's :)
