Just found this which looks like a good thing for all those budget 3D Rendering people (i.e. poor students and home renderers without a pay packet). IT allows you to use Quadro drives with a GeForce card (as they are effectively the same hardware) to have the GPU help the CPU with rendering, something the GeForce drivers dont do.

Saves you spending twice as much on a Quadro card.

Nice, this has been round for a fair while but that's a nice new guide.

You can also mod the 2900 to a Fire GL.
 
Softmod all you like, you're still not going to get the 1.5gb of vram that sits on the fx5600 from your gtx/ultra ;):p

Apart from that it does save you forking out ~£2000 for a quadro card. (you can get the desktop version for ~£225) :)

unless you intend to use it with a professional 3D application like Maya, you will not benefit from soft-modding your GeForce into a Quadro. But if you work with such applications, well, you have just saved yourself a huge bundle of money

Can you use the Geforce drivers on a Quadro?

Some nice AA and high res opportunities there :p
 
haha no doubt some rich bugger one here now will buy a 2000quid quadro and softmod it to a gtx

did this back in the day with a 6800 card. wasnt "that" much improvement in 3d apps really

You softmodded a 6800 to an 88gtx :eek: smoothly done! :D

Nice guide btw, should save a few people a bundle of cash...
