Rise of Flight: WWI flight simulator coming soon

I never really loved IL2 the way I thought I would. Its so sterile. Hopefully there will be a big improvement in atmos and immersion etc.

sterile? The immersion is bloody fantastic. Oh, unless you are referring to single player which basically means you're never going to get any immersion at all, in any sim.

That looks awesome, 6dof on the trackir too by the looks of it. very sweet gonna be getting this for sure, thanks for the heads up.

lol?

Game represents 2 parts of the conflict, namely Germany and the USA. One of the most important parts of this conflict was the war for air domination.

Yeah because the US played a big part in the great war...

Edit: The developers website is not inspiring confidence, check this out.

The US were involved in the great war, after a German U-Boat sunk the Lusitania (and some other key factors) they got involved.

The Americans main involvement was to lend us ships though.

It's badly translated I suspect and is more along the line of being the American squadrons, it also does not state anywhere that it was a big part, just that it is one of the parts.

And that's differrent from any other game how? oh yes, the honesty.

I look into the future and see a great sim with decent support and communication from the devs, it's the first game in ages I've been getting at all eager for.

Errr has nobody seen that bleeding terrible flyboys movie? In fact that’s probably the inspiration of the game, at least it was the inspiration for something. Anyway, Americans in ww1, last year or so, the famous Lafayette escadrille (or however you spell that) had 40+ squadrons in france and about the same number of aces by wars end. Its actually a really good point to set a game in as the aircraft are fast and able to manoeuvre rather than flop around the sky trying to stay up, bombing etc has developed past the rear gunner chucking grenades and generally theres a lot more acm. They even tangled with the richtofen circus (it was an american gunner on the ground who claimed credit for shooting the baron down). Anyway promising.
