Im thinking of getting the tomtom IQ new one (its £114 from certain somewhere which i thought was good price). I only really go round the uk but I just wondered if I did eventually go to amsterdam or somewhere doe anyone know if this can be upgraded to the europe maps later on? I dont want to spend the extra now and this looks a good price.

also anything thats better value? i had a budget of £100 but thought as the above is latest maps etc. thought might aswell. I dont need out else like mp3 etc as my stereo does that.

i prefer the tomtoms to garmin myself

its a personal thing.

yes they can be added later, you just need to buy a bigger memory stick to put them on.

I am use to Tomtoms, I had a TomTom previously (520 go) however was damaged when car got written off and never replaced.

You can get the Tomtom One IQ European Edition for £129.99 from a large online retailer with free delivery..

It can be upgraded to european maps fine, plug it in and TomTom HOME software installs. A few clicks through that and it will download and install new maps. No new memory card or anything else is required it has plenty of internal memory.

No.

and looking around on the net all morning Im not sure if ill use the IQ bit so maybe im spending to much ?

If you mean the IQ Routes feature, you don't "use it", its automatic. It simply works out the route based on how long it took other drivers to do it, and the ETA it gives you is pretty much spot on. Assuming of course it works the same way as the iPhone version.

its more to do with how it routes you also

Take a busy centre for example, like leeds. its got a ringroad, the M621. On a saturday morning this is a great way of getting round the city as its 3 lanes, and with a 50 limit you can speed along doing 60 and get across the city very quick.

But you wouldnt do this at 8am on a monday morning.

IQ routes would know this, and avoid routing you onto the M621 during monday rush hour, but would route you onto it on a saturday morning.

I have a TomTom One with European maps. Bought it in March for about £120 iirc, got me from Middlesbrough - Hull, Rotterdam - Amsterdam, Amsterdam - Nurburgring, Nurburgring - Stuttgart, Round Stuttgart, Stuttgart - Nurburgring (including saving me when I got diverted due to roadworks) and Nurburgring - Calais.

Basically it hasn't let me down lol :D

well i got the new tomtom one iq routes - europe edition. quite nice little unit, ive just done a few trips last few days, some of the routes ive just been on. 1 took my route to a dead end and i had to correct it, the other put me in a field when i was on a road lol. apparnt from that i like the feature of telling it about speed camaras etc then feedsback and gets updates from other ppl. cool.
