£50ish gaming headset

Hey guys,

Since my Speedlink Medusa is totally rubbish (it's falling apart, it crackles, it's just basically the worst heap of rubbish I've ever bought), I need a replacement.

Want to spend about 50 quid, mostly for gaming, needs to have a mic built in also

Any ideas?

Sennheiser PC150 is supposed to be good. Might be better suggestions closer to your budget though.

Well, i used to have a steelsound headset and i can say it was very very comfy and the quality was great. I heard there is a new version of it coming out or is out.

Not sure how much they cost now.

just get some headphones, preferable sennheiser, then get a mic, headsets dont have the sound quality of headphones, and the pc150 / pc160 are very overpriced.

But desk mics suck very badly.

my Sennheiser ones from **** are great for £17.99inc. Loads better than crappy medusa 5.1

just got a set of Sennheiser HD515 and they truely sound superb and soooo comfortable, so out with the logitechs i was using.

Well, Senn PC150 will probably suit you fine. If you had more to spend, I'd recommend buying £65 HD280Pros off ebay, and a deskmic, as its amazing quality change, having used weaker headphones before. if I have to use headphones, I use my HD280Pro for music and games, my PC150 for when Im using voice comms, and speakers when just gaming in my own time, which is a hi-fi amp and speakers anyway

Could this be another application for my universal boom arm?

You just have to imagine it isn't made from LEGO. I think a boom arm that can universally fit to any over ear headphones would be useful, possibly via suction cups or via a clamp like the one I made there. Didn't sound too bad when I connected it up, just needs a lot of windshield protection.

Whats the SK Gaming PC160 like and how is it better than the PC150?

I went from the Medusas to the PC150, and the sound quality difference was huge! A much better headset, and the mic is great to.

Obviously I can't comment on any other headsets for under £50 though

Is it as comfortable to wear as the Medusas?

Trying to decide between PC160 and PC150!

Yup, they took a bit of getting used to, as they are smaller on the ear than the medusas, but I can wear them non stop and they don't hurt my ears/head at all

I'd say icemat siberias, I have them and theyre brilliant. Super comfy and the soundcard you can buy for ~£25 is also really good.
