I have curly hair and used to have it cut quite short but recently I have preferred it a bit longer. The problem is it is quite dry and fine and after washing the individual hairs seperate and go 'frizzy' raher than clump together in curls. It looks best if I haven't washed it for a few days but obviously this isn't a good solution.

So, I was thinking of trying putting something on it to make it clump together but have never used any wax/gel type stuff and not knowing any dodgy metro types personally thought the best place to ask was probably OcUK :D

What I want is something that is light and just makes my hair a bit 'tackier' to mimic the effect of not washing it for a few days. It also needs to be easy to put on and once on I don't want to have to 'maintain' it in any way. I don't want something that is obvious or makes me look like a gelled-up chav on the pull. I want the end effect to look and move naturally. Hoping to get some usefull pointers rather than have to take pot luck and bankrupt myself working through the shelf at boots.

Thanks in advance for all the sensible, considered and helpfull replies I am sure will follow ;)

I found the ultimate solution.

1sec I'll just go to the bathroom to find its name.

(My hair fluffs up too when it's longer, but returns to looking better after a day).

edit:

It's a small light blue tub with a red screw on lid.

Seems to be what you're looking for though.

I find it works best when your hair is completely dry though, although it's better than nothing if your hair is still moist.

edit edit: just noticed you can peel off the label on top and it has instructions. It even says "Texturised effect, like the day after showering" :p

Stick a hat on for half an hour after you get out of the shower, that usually stops mine going mad and afro-like when it's long. Also i was told putting some conditioner in your hair after washing it and leaving it in before drying it works.
