Spec me (oh God no) a fountain pen

I am sick of having to scrounge about the house for half-used uncomfortable biros stolen from banks and charities which brand my fingers with massive calluses.

I'm looking to invest around £50 (maybe £20 or so more...) on a hard-wearing fountain pen which uses standard refills, writes nicely, feels comfortable and looks elegant. Any suggestions? I've been looking at some cheap Watermans but am worried they suffer from being half-****d/poorly-constructed models.

Gracias.

No request is too boring or too off-the-wall. Don't be ashamed if all you want is a normal skinny white pen, they get the job done and they are infact our biggest seller! Conversely, there is no reason to be shy about your Pen Island needs. We've done it all. Wrapped in leather, little pink bows, we've even done pens dipped in chocolate!

Just tell us a little bit about the size, color, texture, and taste of the pen you’re looking for, and we’ll see what can do. You’ll be surprised at what’s available.

This thread is now about Penisland.

Oh wait, I didn't need to say that. v_v

Sorry.

But maybe have a look in a local jewellers, they sometimes have pens. Mainly for gifts and things but they might be able to point you in a better direction as well.

Recently bought a Waterman Phileas off the bay, a 'pen seller from france' seems to have a lot of pens for a decent price.
The phileas was recommended to me as a decent starting pen. If you're after something a bit different look at the Rotring Newton 600s, they're more like trades mens tools.

I have £30 waterman and it's brilliant. Lovely to write with and I haven't managed to break it yet which is saying something for me.

Edit: Mine's a silver hemisphere according to their website albeit with a gold top and clip.

I think the phileas is now no longer in production but like I said plenty of the bay, and the seller I used in particular was very fast. Be careful though, I believe this can turn into an expensive hobby if pens 'are your thing'

£30 for a pen?

I have had the same parker for 3 years and its the only pen I use still does the job and I'm a student so plenty of usage. It only cost me £20 as well.

These watermans around the 30 mark sound tempting though, any specific recommendations?
