Hi guys,

Since this is coming up so much in The *Official* S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Thread and people are actually giving me flak for pointing it out to them individually, I thought I would make a thread dedicated to this issue.

Stalker FAQ said:
10) Why doesn't my anti-aliasing work?

A: S.T.A.L.K.E.R. uses a technique called "deferred rendering". Because of this, anti-aliasing has no effect on the game engine. (This is also used in Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter and Rainbow Six.) Therefore, enabling anti-aliasing in the driver control panel has no effect.
You can find the rest of this FAQ by clicking here. I am hoping that this will put the claims of "I use 8xQ antialiasing all maxed out!" to rest, and stop the whinging when people are corrected.

Thank you.

Sincerely yours,
Ulfhedjinn.

could it be the way you have spoken to some people this week has caused others to be over defensive?

How about people don't repeat the same old BS? ;)

Maybe then they will be spoken to with a little respect.

Guys he only made this thread to stop the normal stalker thread from getting cluttered with arguments and getting closed by a mod - give him some credit

If the antialiasing problem is a common one then why not have an *official* thread for it

I personally never realised the stalker engine didnt support AA. I wouldn't have noticed this any time soon as i am currently running it on a 7800gtx, so AA was pretty out of the question for me in the first place.

HOWEVER, i can see that this, for some people, would be a useful topic. If its to stop the same question being asked many times, or to answer those who would ask said question it has served its purpose.

Side note: Why bother wasting your time telling the poster that this topic was a unnecessary post, surely yours is on the same level as that? Pot calling the kettle black situation methinks, except the thread starter at least had something useful to say.

Cheers Ulfhedjinn, i will keep this in mind when i complete my inevitable system rebuild when i check its performance.

some chap basically said he is enjoying the game, thought it looked fine and does not care about jaggies and you called him a bare faced liar, attempted to ridicule how he has his pc setup and set upon his wealth. oh didn't you also imply he was a mug or was that someone else you where having a go at? you can not proove someones personal taste to be a lie.. or even their belief as they may be wrong but it's not the same as lying.

in any case, whats it matter to you at the end of the day, it's not like they kicked your cat.

Yes because someone with a Core 2 and 8800GTX doesn't care about graphics.

This has what to do with how full-scene antialiasing does not work in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

It's quite hilarious that people are trying to take moral high-ground by taking a normal topic way off-track.

Make an official Ulfhedjinn telling-off thread if you care so much, because it's not got much relevence here.

Now your mis-quoting my mis-qoutes, i assume thats it me you are refering to.
People are agreeing with you that this game doesnt use AA, for the most part though the graphics engine looks like AA is being used.
A question for you however, why have the Devs decided not to use AA although there is an option in the advanced menue, is it a performance trade off or a technical restriction with the gfx engine?

your attack upon him was off topic and had no relevence.. fancy cutting those facts from the quote and then saying all that!

Its a technical barrier of deferred rendering, I think dailytech ran an article slightly about this not so long ago:

(see the second page)

I seem to remember this mentioned in that article.
