Hey guys

I have a Creative World of Warcraft Headset, and I thought it would be rude not to do a review. Creative have asked me to do a review :)

Well lets start at the beginning. The first thing that hit me in the face was the size of the box. You can compare it against my G15 keyboard in the background.

The box was opened and the headset was removed, the headset data/power cable is a single USB cable which is detachable from the headset itself. The Mic is also not connected, this uses a 3.5mm jack to plus into the base of the left ear (It is a shame that Creative didn't give you the option to connect to either the left or right earphone).

I got a little excited and plugged in the USB cable and powered up my PC. Soon as the USB power kicked into, the headset ears started to glow, the glow is a slow and steady colour change, cycling through blue, green, orange, red, yellow, purple and back to blue.

I plugged in the mic, and when windows loaded, the OS found the headset and installed the default headset driver.
I loaded up an MP3 and put them on. The sound was crystal clear, the default treble was quite high, with the bass being low. Initial thought "these are pants for £100+".

There was no software disk with the headset, so I jumped onto the Creative website and found the driver and a firmware update. I downloaded both and installed the firmware update and the software, I started up my MP3 song again, and Windows Media Player announced that it could not play audio. I rebooted and then tested the MP3 again, sound quality was a little better but still not what I would expect for £109.99.

I then loaded up the Creative software there was various options to alter the light/glow of the ears. The options were very good.

There was also the EQ settings, with a good choice of presets or customisation.

The THX options were also very good, after playing with both the equaliser and THX settings for around 15mins I was much more happy and impressed with the sound quality. Clear sound with punchy bass, I'm impressed!.

Next - and by far the most fun part of the headset is the Sound FX options. This allows the headset to alter your voice for comms. Some of the settings are great, they are based around WoW characters, but are great even if you are not a WoW player.

I have for some odd reason recorded my voice with some of the FX, take the urine go on :)

The audio that the give out can be heard by any one in the room if you have them on high volume, but at medium to low volume the noise is isolated within the earphones - Thanks to my son for testing them on his head for me ;))

Overall I once I setup the software (which was not included but had to be downloaded) I was happy with the headset. If you are a regular gamer who uses voice communications on a regular basis these are very good. However for occasional usage they are most likely expensive for your needs.

Oh, the only thing I forgot to mention in my review is that the left ear phone has two buttons for volume up, and volume down.

The button has to be repeatedly pressed to get it to keep going down. The buttons are fiddly to press and made a nasty clicking noise in your left ear.

However as I use a G15 with a dial for volume it wasn't a major issue as it's quicker and easier if I just use the dial, as my hands are already on the keyboard.
