For a single gfx card gamer, what does P45 offer over P35?

if you ran the same memory, cpu and gfx card on a p35 and a p45 board, would there be much of a performance difference?

forgot to add, DDR2 only

well the pci-e 2.0 slots, which i think provide like 35% over the PCI-E 1.1 slots, some people say more some less.
Other than that a lot as the guy above say.
Just read up and basically a lot of the current cards dont use the full bandwidth of 2.0 as the cards dont support using the full bandwidth that 2.0 offers yet, but they are backwards capable and such but yeah.

Would there be a difference in performance for a 4870X2 (single card imo), as that must be getting near the wall/limits/exceeding of pci-e1.1, meaning a p45 is faster?

I have a DS3r (p35), my friend has the newer p45 DS3 with almost exactly the same setup as me (geil dragon memory, not dhx). With just the one card, there is absolutely no noticeable difference between p35 and p45.

Only reason I can see for spending the extra doubloons on a p45 board would be if your 'single gfx card' was a 4870 or newer. There seems to be a lot of debate as to whether pci 1.0 is adequate for these new cards. If you're sticking to the 8800/9800 series though, just get a p35 and save yourself 30 odd quid.

35% ? Where did you read that?

Maybe next year with HD5870XT with 3tf bandwith.

But then, we'll probably have PCIE 3.0 or something newer out ;].

i'd love to meet these people who believe there's a 35% difference....let alone more than that :p

PCI-E 2.0 gives 2x more Bandwidth than previously so its 100% difference.

There is no card yet needs all the bandwidth of it though and your not going to magically make your card faster if it was not starved of bandwidth on your old Mobo.

Would it be worth upgrading to a p45 over a p35 if your moving from an am2 motherboard for a single gfx card. Or do X48 and X38 boards offer better preformance anyway?

Worth only if your crossfiring, then minimum recommendation is p45 with 8x 8x pci-e 2, then x38/x48 with there 16x 16x pci-e ports.

Otherwise, it doens't seem like it has advantage.
