I have just installed the above motherboard and i,m having major issues all over the place..
Installing windows was a nightmare constant errors and blue screen crashes. Eventually i had to take out my WD hard drive as the board had a fit anytime it was in..?
Now i have got windows loaded and installed the drivers for my 460 gtx.. But anytime i run anything that uses the graphics card or demos etc i either get the display driver has stopped responding and has been re-set or the program will just hang then come up with an unexpected shutdown.. I literally cannot get anything graphicly demanding to run...

Any one any ideas as this board so far is the biggest pile of crap Asus has ever built....

Cheers

a few things to check before I go to bed,

is the voltage to the ram at the right value, check in the bios.

are the memory timings correct, auto or by spd.

have you plugged the extra 8pin CPU plug in.

are most of the CPU frequency or voltage settings at auto.

does changing cool n quiet help, in the bios, might be a heat issue with a poorly mounted heatsink.

Everything in the bios is at auto.. I will try and manually set the values.

8 pin plug in ok and cpu heatsink ok.. All cpu voltages at auto.

I have just read it could be an issue with my OCZ low voltage 1.65v Ram and this board.. ? I have some different Ram i,m going to try... Or even PSU (Sapphire 625w.)

Cheers

Ok new mem in and no different, now getting runtime errors all over the place. I have tried to re-install Direct x but it fails with an internal error...

I think i,m about ready to give up with this board, it promised so much and has delivered nothing...

lol even Windows updates are failing now with Random errors......

I give up. for tonight... Fresh mind tomorrow.

It may just be a DOA. Though I had some strange things with the M4N82, like you had to increase the multi 3 whole increments past desired settings (so if you wanted 3.6GHz from a 200 base clock, you'd have to use 21 on the multiplier.

Even so, I reckon your mobo has issues...

I think your right mate, I,m going to give it a fresh install of windows again today and see how it goes. I have tried all the hardware, graphics card memory etc on my other machine and all ok.. So last chance if the re-load fails its going back...

Just need to decide if i should get another M4N98TD evo as a replacement or if its the Nvidia chipset giving me all the hassle..

Ok just had a good play with this... It seems anything OpenGl like furmark etc runs perfect with no issues.. Anything that uses Dx crashes and resets the display driver. It seems i have a Dx issue that could be causing the crashing...??

I cannot re-install Dx as it comes up with an error. Just goign to re-load and see what that does.

I think I might have this sorted now.. It seems the board has trouble with my memory the auto settings seem to undervolt it quite a bit..?

I have manually set all the timings and voltage for the memory according to the manufacturers spec,s and i have now managed to load windows all updates and drivers and run 3d mark vantage without a crash or driver re-set...

Going to give it a good testing tonight but i have proved it can work.. Which makes me happy as this board doesw everything i want..

Spoke too soon drivers are re-setting again.. It seems it only does it when i run high res (1920x1080).. If i run vantage at its default settings its fine. Anything that i run at higher res and try and work the Gpu causes the graphics driver to re-set or the program to crash... The pc seems to work perfect in windows soing normal things web browsing etc...

I,m now wondering about my psu its the Sapphire 625w... ???

I,m really out of ideas now.. If anyone has any ideas it would be most helpfull...

Cheers

All latest drivers installed.. The 460 runs perfect in my old rig so not that. Also I coonected my OCZ psu to run the 460 in my new pc and it still did the same so nothing wrong with the Psu..

It looks like its just crappy Nvidia drivers, Which is silly i cannot run an nvidia Gpu in an Nvidia mainboard (AM3)...

One more play tonight before i RMA the lot and go back to to ATI.....

I'm assuming you have the M4N98TD for SLI? If so you can run a Crossfire board and hacked drivers (not a difficult Google...).

Then you have decent chipsets, and SLI on an AMD rig :D

I,m on the verge of ordering a Asus Crosshair III Formula AMD 790FX.. I read so many good reviews about this board but its really doing my head in..

I can run everything perfect without a hitch until i try and do anything demanding like run a benchmark at 1920x1080 and it just dies, currupts the drivers and all sorts......

Its really bad that the Nvidia chip board is having so much hassle with an nvidia grpahics card. The 460 runs perfect in my 785G AMD mainboard....lol..

I have an Rma booked for it all to be collected on monday so will keep fiddling i,m sure it might be a setting or something or just really bad drivers...

have you checked the qualified vendor list for the ram on the asus website.

was the other ram you tried on the list.

I'm clutching at straws now too.

The Ram is on there but listed as 3 x 2gb rather than 2 x 2gb.. The other Ram i dont think was on there tbh....

I,m going to have a play with Ram tomorrow try just one stick of both types and see what that does as a last resort. I really want this combination to work but i,m getting close to giving in..

After searching google there does seem to be a quite a few people having the same issues as me and with other chipset boards too, there just never seems to be a fix or answer...

Hmm i can run fur mark perfect with both cards in Sli..... It seems the problem is anything using Direct X. I have updated to the latest Direct x but that does not do anything..

I wonder if Nvidia have a Uk tech number....?

Ok really weird now.... Furmark multi Gpu runs perfect no glitches or errors in over 30 mins.. The Sledge nvidia tech demo game thing runs at 1920x1080 perfect no crashes.. I have also run through the X3 terran conflict tech demo with no problems...

??????????

I,m scared to try anything else, think i will go to bed on that....
