One of our Forums' Dons, Thundycat recently got in touch asking for a custom system.

the system is an Ultima Vanquish with three 1TB hard Drives [2TB in RAID], a Radeon HD 5870 and an Antec 1200 Case.

here is the pics from my build :)

the generic "here is a collection of boxes that i am going to build a system with" photo :D

That looks wicked Rich thanks for taking the time to build it for me.:)

And thankyou Yewen for your time and advice on what components to use.

TC.

It has windows installed and the drivers are currently going on.

So far 30 minutes load stable on a preliminary test we run before installing Windows, the main testing will occur in Windows once all the drivers are installed.

Can't let you have the rig just yet mate. ;)

whats that ssd sticker on the case box say? do they come with an ssd tray now? getting mine on tuesday so would be handy if they do :D

build looks good, nice and clean cable management :)

they have a slot cut in the bottom of the case now on all antec 901/1200's where you slot the ssd in place using these rubber grommet thingys

its not ideal as it is not the stealthiest way of doing it, but its functional and it works

cool thanks, ill still buy a 3.5 to 2.5 adaptor tray and see which suits best then :) thank you

That does look very nice, Nice choice of parts :)

See Gigabyte have changed the colour of the last PCI-E slot.

its a newer revision

i think it looks a little more uniform too

Your right there, the one thing I diss-like about mine is the almost burnt orange slot :(

Edit: actually you can't see it very well now with 2 gpu's in the ESATA bracket :)

Enjoy your new rig Thundy :)

That thing will be a beast of a system mate!

@Rich, have you noticed any differences between these new UD5's over the previous ones?

When my Dad got his bundle from you guys it had one of the new boards, but I can't say I noticed any difference at all between his board and mine, I remember when the Rev 13 X58 chipsets first starting appearing a lot of people on XS said they were better for overclocking, but I personally didn't think there was any difference at all.

Roll on Tuesday as that is the expected delivery date:D
