Hey guys,

This is my first post so would just like to say hi!

I decided on the corsair 800D for my case a couple of weeks ago but it doesn't seem to matter where i look everywhere is sold out? I know they dropped the 700D but havent heard anything about the 800D being dropped?

Anyway so after looking around overclockers site last night i started thinking, do i really need a case as big as the 800D or it just over kill or should i look at the 650D as it has the looks of the 800 which i like and all the cable management just without the huge form factor? So thought i would pop on here and get your guys advice.

Here is what my build will have:
Intel Core i7-2600K 3.40GHz (Sandybridge)
x1 Intel 510 Series "Elmcrest" 120GB SSD
x3 1TB Hard Drives (For Storage)
x1 ATI Radeon HD 6950
Asus P67 Sabertooth Intel P67
Corsair Vengeance 16GB DDR3 PC3-15000C9 1866MHz
Corsair Hydro H80 Liquid CPU Cooler
Antec 650W Power Supply

Oh and btw , this isn't a gaming rig. This is purely for work.

Any help would be great :)

Thanks
Woody

Unless your going full blown water cooling you do not need the 800D.

Since you are going water/air cooling go for the 650D. It isn't the size of a house and has superior air cooling.

Yeah , i dont really want to be doing any water cooling apart from fitting the H80. Thanks for the advice

Yea , does seem like an overkill , But i dont want it to be cramped either...finding the happy medium from being cramped and looking lost inside the case.

Is the 650D roomy inside?

Yeah I'm buying the 650Dw tomorrow too. I was set on the 600t as the design has grown on me and the fan control dial is appealing.

I might still get the T though :p

Upgrading from a Lian-Li PC7Fbw which is great but with the size of the cooling I have now I require more room inside the case for cool air to circulate as at the moment I have found hot components are too close together and not enough intake air is getting to them due to the 3x HDDs in the cage.

An issue with the 600t is the front fan is narrower than standard and you cant fit a better thicker fan in as by accounts the 600t fan pushes less air than a fart.

Heh, is it narrower than the 650D?

I'm still solid on the 650D though right now :p

I can't decide between the 600t or the 650d either..

I really do like the white 600t's I have seen on here though.

The 600t fan is 20mm thick all the aftermarket 200mm fans are 30mm thick such a sthe decent 200mm coolermaster fansso physically wont fit.
Edit: I believe the 650D suffers from the same problem but not 100% on that.
where the arrows are there is only room for 20mm between front of case and hdd cage so you would need to put the hdd completely away from the front in order to fit 25-30mm thick fans which isn't an issue if you only run say 2 or 3 hdd's you can just have 1 hdd cage in front of the psu.

So this is how you would want to run it should you wish to fit aftermarket 25-30mm thick fans (which is standard)

As you can see the above pic maybe only a 2 drive config would work again not sure but the gap at the front is defo a design oversight I'd throw in the silverstone raven 3 or raven 2 as a good alternative in this price range for air cooling. The raven 3 fits 4 x 3.5 and 1x ssd behind the motherboard a good design actually really like the raven 3.

You can fit 3 drives in one of the HDD cages, unless you run more than 3 HDD's you're fine just moving the HDD cage to the position in front of the PSU, that's how I run mine on a 650D.

This isn't my system, and it's a 600T, but the internals of the 650D and the 600T are identical (the 650D doesn't have LED fans though), it shows how I'd have the HDD cage to ensure maximum airflow.

I would love a 650D but could not bring myself to purchase one until they update the front usb3.0 to internal headers - I would just regret it I know it.:D

Thanks for clearing it up

How was it possible to mount a fan in front of the graphics cards? Is there a mount for it or was it a modification?
