This is from a HR department.
In order for us to process your application, can you please let me know your current salary requirements.

Shall i say my current pay or shall i say current market rates? and if so how shall i put it.

They are asking you how much do you want to be paid. Be realistic and reasonable when answering, but don't be afraid to ask a little high.

i don’t what to price myself out by putting a high rate nor do i want to be seen as cheap by giving them a lever to bargain me down from whatever i was asking for.

Was going to put a spread, however would i better just saying something like market rates with out suggesting a numeric rate, then if i get the job i can carry out negotiations on wage rate.

Just tell them, in literally as many words, "I was hoping for 'x'" where 'x' is what you were, ya know, hoping for.

Always leave room for bartering, it's part and parcel of job hunting.

Do not forget to factor any benefits you may of had at the previous employer in that role if you are comparing.

Never had previous employer, always contracting for my company all expenses paid, gym membership, free training, free loans etc... i dont think any employer would give the level of benefits that i gave myself.:D
