What are acceptable voltages for PC8500 rated at 2.0v/2.1v for an overclock? I've read so much conflicting material I just want to ask what you guys think.

Would 2.4v-2.5v be acceptable without too much risk for a module rated at 2.0v? (I've read 3v is okay as a max but im not sure what all the facts are)

Regards
Scotty

Why would you do that? I could half understand if you had a CPU with a 7x multi and 6400 RAM that was holding you back but really, why do you want to do it ?

scotty365,

you have made three seperate threads asking very similar questions, it's not cool and makes helping you harder! :(

You should have made a single thread and you would have got better help!

I wrote you an answer in your other thread

You only need to know the very basics to get DDR2-1066 running, your really confusing yourself! . . . .

Yes I accept your quite correct that its not helping me by asking multiple questions.... Im being impatient and have SO many questions.
I've learned a lot in a short time but there are grey areas and being able to ask specific question thro OCUK is very helpful.
I'm trying to ask in seperate threads so one thread doesnt become too over-complicated with multiple issues.

Ok . . .

you gotta be patient when you doing this stuff, for your sake and the sake of anyone actively taking time out to help you, if you get ratty or frustrated that effects everything including the mood of anyone trying to help! :p

It's good that your keen and wanna learn but Rome wasn't built in one day!

Believe it or not it's all actually quite simple when you know how, you just need to pace yourself and put little bits of what you learn into practice . . .

Now if I am too reverse-engineer your posts I gather you are having a spot of difficulty getting everything the way you want it, you seem to have some knowledge of overclocking but can't get your memory up to speed? . . . . You've made this particular thread to ascertain if it's ok to pump a riduculous amount of voltage into your memory to get them running at the speed you want? . . . is that right or? :D

The answer is no it's not alright, you will most likely overheat your sticks which will make them throw up errors . . .and if they run burning hot for a long period they stand the risk of becoming bOrked/damaged

I've done a fair bit of testing with DDR2 modules (Crucial, Kingston, Corsair) and have found that they mostly give most of their goodness at around 1.8vDimm to 2.0vDimm, if you go above that it had better be for something special like 600MHz (DDR2-1200) . . .

Several different DDR2-1066 kits I've used *all* run at 533MHz with minimal voltages (1.8vDimm to 1.84vDimm), this goes against the grain of what a lot of forum members say so I am left a bit perplexed? . . .either I got several batches of memory from different manufacturers that are low voltage or a great deal of the other forum members ended up with substandard kits or simply are mistaken

I'm off to one of your other threads to continue, you make me work . . . I make you work!
