So I bought the LG2363D after a long time searching for reviews and advice on which monitor to buy, I am happy with my purchase but the only bad thing about this monitor is that it has a lot of grainyness to it when you are looking at bright/white images, is this a problem with the monitor or is that just how matte screens look.

The reason I ask is because out of the all the monitors I have read none of them say anything about this, it might just be me being oversensitive or it may be a problem.

LG2363D owners help would be helpful.

It is the matte anti-glare surface that you can see. This diffuses ambient light to reduce 'glare' but also diffuses light from the monitor itself. The effect of this is apparent on anything the monitor emits but displaying whites and light colours in particular reveals the coarsened pattern (the grainy appearance). LG are known to go 'all out' with their matte surfaces and typically have a haze value (a measure of how 'matte' the surface is, if you like) of 30%+ which is rather high. This is something that is widely complained about on monitors such as the Dell UltraSharp series, which have LG panels. I think the reason it probably receives more attention on these Dell monitors is due to the praise they receive for their colour reproduction - and you have to look at other aspects of their performance critically given their price and prowess.
