I am officially declaring myself as a genius! I bought this game on launch day and have not been able to play it until now. My problem was that it would crash to desktop when I launched game. I tried all the fixes on the net such as setting sound to 48khz and disabling unimodem half duplex in device manager etc. Anyways, none of these supposed fixes worked for me and many others. I have tried so many things to get this game working which you would not believe.

This evening I had a flash of inspiration. I checked dxdiag which showed my sound card as emulated! That can't be right I thougt, so I went about reserching the net and found the following;

The solution lay in a very old WinXp problem. Winxp and 2k incorrectly set the drivers to EMULATED. The trouble is, it's what directsound uses to remember whether it's hardware or software, and my dxdiag thought I had no hardware buffer.

Try start-run-dxdiag[enter] and look at the "sound" or "sound1" tab. If it says the device is EMULATED then this may work for you, it worked for me.

The only way to fix it is to do a regedit (Start-run "regedit"[enter]
and search (Ctrl+F) for every instance of the entry "Device Presence".
Once there, in each one there should have some or all of the following:

(Default)
Emulated
VxD
WDM

Anyways, in most of these in my registry, VxD and WDM were set to 0, and emulated was set to 1. I modified the values so Emulated read 0 and VxD and WDM read as 1. Do this for every entry, by right clicking on the value and editing. Naturally it may be wise to keep a note of original settings on each (some will be 1,0,0 others will be 1,1,1 - was for me anyway) just incase something borks and you need to reset them.

You will have to re-run DXDIAG (start-run "dxdiag"[enter]) and set the hardware accelleration back to full and test it.

Basically guys the game now works for me, hooray. I'm sure there are lots of people still struggling because of this exact problem. If so, try the above as a fix. Good luck.
 
anyone noticed how all the lvl 65 players seem
to be crap? every1 ive seen they have crap scores.

also saw a guy on prestige1 and hes rank27 already
summit dodgy or just rly sad ppl :( shame cause it makes
it look like WoW with all the saddos :D
 
No the Sound Occulation is still rubbish, and cheat protected, change anything in the config you like it will just reset it upon launch of the game, likewise the cg_fov command along with many others resetting too.. Have resorted to binding a key to toggle fov 65 80. :(

There is a level 65 'fix' out, very sad tbh.....
 
im level prestige 1 level 26 rank must be sad :D.

its not hard to get ranked up quickly just goto a hardcore big free for all.

took 4 hrs to get to 26 so its not that sad :p

make sure you look at your challenges cause if you do them every map thats how you fly up.


creme egg

you go to co op mode

host online game

game type where it says at top campaign gametype just click on it and it will change to zombie mode.

you will know when its worked cause a zombie picture will come on screen.make sure you click ok at bottm right off screen.

you need a least two friends to play it.

they need to be added to your friends list and invited to game.
 
Hardcore FFA has to be the worst mode for levelling up, you just get 5 points a kill.

HQ or Search and Destroy is the best for big points.
 
Grrrr....when you have to clear the third tunnel (you're given a flame thrower), how hard is the final tunnel?

There's too many of them, and my own troops are either busy getting blown up, or blocking my duck and cover paths :mad:
 
My game is crashing in same place, just makes the screen go black.
its on the level where you arrive by train (russians)you get in the hospital place, come out of there and you are in a big street, well about 100 yds down it the game always crashs.
