Can I make my phone ring for longer?

I notice that when I call most people, their mobile will ring for quite a long time before switching to voicemail, whereas mine rings maybe 3 or 4 times before doing so; sometimes I won't get a chance to answer it before it goes to voicemail. Is there any way I can change this so that it rings for longer?

i think there are 2 network settings for ring length, yours might be set to a short length, ring your network and ask about it.

do you get charged for voicemail?

Doesn't it depend on the phone?

When I had a Nokia you could set how long you wanted it to ring (up to 30s), but on my W810i you can't :(

Depends on the network too. On Orange (for example), you can make any phone ring for longer irrespective of menu options with a GSM code.

**61*11*07973100123*30# then send will make it ring for 30 seconds (for different lengths change the 30 to any 5 sec block between 5 and 30).

The option probably exists on other networks, contact CS if needed to find out :)

Normally have Divert calls (voicemail) for 'No Reply' deactivated. 'When Busy' & 'Not reachable' are activated. That’s a SE k700i on Vodafone :D

I'm with O2; anyone know of a similar code that would work for me. I'd prefer not to deal with CS as I don't have that much time (or money) to spare!

Dude did you bother looking at the link i posted???

Try that, i did on my tmobile w810i and it works...have it set to 30 secs before it goes to voicemail.

Yeah, tried that and got "command error". I also tried the tip suggested earlier in the thread and that came back with "unknown application" so I guess I need a different code for O2.
Can anyone help with this?

If you pop the SIM card into a Windows Mobile phone (such as the XDA Mini-S, which I use) you can go to the Phone Options and set the number of seconds from the phone. That way, you can set it without knowing the command they use for your network.

I can change the length of the ring on my w810 by using the settings option on the vodafone website. Dunno what network you're on though...

Nevermind, after a bit of googling I cam across this page: http://www.mobileshop.org/usertech/gsmcodes.htm and it was sorted. I think I also had the wrong no. for my voicemail as you need the long, international version instead of "901"
Cheers for the advice though guys!

Glad to hear it and yes it needs the full number for your voicemail otherwise it wont work...thats why you kept getting a connection error;).

You've mixed up the order, its **61*07973100123*11*30#

And **61*07973100123*89*30# for a line 2.
