Hi Guys
I am considering getting myself this monitor, but have noticed that the monitor has "an analog capacity for 720p signals and the ability to display a full 1080p digital signal". So am i right in thinking i cannot get my xbox 360 to display 1080p on this screen via the VGA input, which i use currently with my samsung 205BW.

I am after a new monitor because i want "full hd" 1080p! I also wanted to get a monitor that would in the future allow me to add a ps3, so the extra inputs on this Hyundai are appealing. How then can i get the full digital signal from my xbox 360, which doesnt have HDMI, to this monitor. component is analogue isnt it?

Thanks guys

Looks very well specced - probably will be my next monitor TBH.

Looks like it deals with 1080p from the spec sheet so should work fine.

Don't mind the TN panel either as i like the faster response for FPS games.

Hello :)

I ordered this monitor a few days ago (should come tomorrow :D!), I chose it because on the Hyundai IT website, it had so many good things to it (like the ability to display a 1080P signal - greatfor PS3/HD DVD/BR, also 1:1 pixel mapping (sounds good any way lol).

If you go on their website it tells you all the info about it, and also on youtube search hyundai w240d and theres a review on it :)

In relation to your question, Im not so sure, but I think to get it in 1080P you will need to use either the HDMI or DVI-D

Hope that helps,

Matt ;)

Is there then a way to get a full digital 1080p signal from the 360 that doesnt have the hdmi interface built in. the only connections i can think of are component and vga, and these are both analogue arent they?

I believe so. :(

VGA will definately do 1080i - haven't tried the component option as i used my Samsung monitor for gaming rather than an LCD tv.

I have had this monitor for a few weeks now and it is simply awesome.

The 360 should be capable of doing 1080p over the VGA but will only do 1080i over component. I will test it with my unit when I get a chance.

I personally have it connected via hdmi as that keeps the cables to a minimum.

Games certainly seem to benefit from this extra level of detail. There are moments in games like GOW and Forza which just look simply stunning.

If you are intending on watching hd-dvd's/ HDCP content then I am sure you could get away with using a dvi to vga adapter as the HDMI and DVI ports are HDCP enabled.

slightly confused by a site that has posted the spec of this panel:

Viewaing Angle(H/V) 160/160(CR≥10), S-PVA 178/178CR≥10)

Response Time(ms) 4ms / 2ms (GtG), S-PVA 6ms(GtoG)

OCUK have the viewing angles quoted as: 178/178 & 2ms Response Time ?

that's a mix of the specs, Hyundai didnt make it very easy on their website initially and it looked like they would have two diff models with the same code, but different panels. They've now actually changed it to two models:

W240D - TN Film, 2ms G2G, 3000:1 DCR (1000:1 without), 500 cd/m2 brightness, 160/160 viewing angles

W241D - S-PVA, 6ms G2G, 178/178 viewing angles. Rest of spec the same really

W241D - Is this available in this country yet?
